Went on a run yesterday. About fifty bikes making more noise than a B52 on takeoff. I was on our goldwing. A few others had them, but mostly harleys and other Vtwins with straightpipes. As we were threading down the back roads from tav to tav, I thought, I would rather be on my TW in the woods. Having to ride next to others in close formation on a twisty winding road, wondering who is going to brake hard or do something silly keeps a person on high alert. Like I said, would have rather been in the woods with a few other TW riders taking it slow and enjoying the out of doors. Thank goodness I have two of them to go out with the wife and have some laidback easy riding in nature.

Had a great day. Unfortunately my wife had a meeting and we couldn't get out on the TW's. Have a jeep I am restoring so was on the sandblaster for a while. Came home, forgot she had a meeting so just kicked back on the steps overlooking the valley watching the geese come in for the night.



Hopefully we can take some time to get out tomorrow. She really needs to be on it everyday as she is really a noobie. At 65 trying to operate a bike with absoulutely no time on one. You know what they say about old dogs. Just hope she doesn't bite it and give up. Just taking it easy a little at a time.



Sure will be nice when she gets familiar enough to hit the gravel forest roads and some trails. Might gear her down some more so she can idle and waddle at the same time lol.

I totally understand. You were right with the B52's, when in air they fly in formation too. Though some riders are more like fighter jets in tight formation. Unfortunatly I dont do large rides like that on highways. Because of people invading my space. Riding two wide in asingle lane. No thanks. Especially with someone I dont know next to me. Good luck with your wife, and dont laugh at her. Just kidding.

lol, No I don't laugh unless I go behind the garage. Still having a hard time holding my stomach in front of her without making a grin. She has been a school teacher for 28yrs. Has a hard time taking lessons, too long giving them. Using both hands and both feet is quite a jump from writing on the black board and giving lipservice. It is coming along though, I keep telling myself PATIENCE, PATIENCE.

I too am playing motorcycle instructor. I just tell her it reminds me of myself and sometimes Im laughing out of joy for her. Which I do. Other times I just cant help but let go of my grin. Then I remember she is looking to me for encouragement alot right now and not to discouraging (keeping wise ass comments to myself,... for now... , shes not one of the guys). Once she gets going in the grass and dirt good with her coordination working, I will hang up my hat and turn her over to the professionals who actively teach the ABATE course.

We are lucky enough to live in a rural area with small paved roads around the valley. It is all flat, basically a river plain for her to poke along at 20 or so. I just tag along while she gets the feel of the bike. Putting her on dirt or gravel would have dire consequences at this point. Will give her the lead as to when she wants to go out in the rough. Went out for a 6mi run after spending the day cleaning and mowing. Was a good refresher on a nice day.



The one thing is that only one car passed us and we followed a tractor for a mile or so. Just right for a place to learn.
