I like the look of the high fenders on the TW's I have seen, so I ordered the ProCycle version (great service, fast shipping, easy to follow instructions included with the fender)

I did worry about additional mud build-up on the engine...however, where I ride (Utah) for the most part is dry, not going to be mud-bogging.

Also, when I have gone through puddles, stream crossings etc I got a considerable amount of mud and debris on the engine with the low fender.

I am thinking of fabing or maybe something is already out there similar to this expanded metal engine guard I found for the Kawasaki KLR. Maybe something more vertical than this example to keep mud off the engine better.

Any thoughts?

You can certainly put together what you got for the KLR. What I did was install the expanded metal on the rear of the fender. Seems to work ok. The fender section of 'screen' is easy to clean by hitting with a piece of branch. What ever you come up with, let us know.... Gerry
