This just showed up at the door.
If the Tdub has to be homeless
I guess it deserves a little
Golden anodized bling.
Now to figure out the quietest way to mount it.
Any suggestions ?

I have wanted a set of DMO footpegs since I bought the Tdub.
I was a little disappointed when I heard they were no longer available....
Well I went to their website today and they had pegs listed for the tw200..
sooo i ordered a set..
The order seemed to go thru ok..
At least they accepted my payment....
I guess I will just have to wait and see if they arrive in the mail....
Fingers crossed...

I finally managed to get my tusk D-flex pro handguards mounted today.
I am not happy with the way they turned out at all.
But they are on there , I will try to make them better / proper at a later date..
I'm heading out to the Gathering of the goats in the morning.
i should be able to look at some other T-dubs and get a handle on a
proper installation of these hand guards..
All loaded up and ready to go !

mileage..,.... Not near enough....
Been slammed at work no riding or wrenching in quite a while ...,
i got to tinker a little today ...
Installed the DMO foot pegs ...
very good quality. I like that they are no longer offset ...
Crankset Bicycle tire Bicycle Automotive tire Light

I also installed the ricochet skid plate .....,
Now I can crack my frame welds instead of my cases ...
unlike the factory skid plate this one will not absorb any energy
on impact ... The frame and rider will take the full impact of the hit ..
i cut the loop off of the frame so there is no going back ...

And I replaced the oil fill plug that wondered off ....
Hopefully the thieving bastards will leave this one alone ...
This aluminum cap gets very H O T ....
It's drilled for safety wire ...
Maybe that would be a theft deterrent ?

I also installed a relay for switched accessory power...
But when I went to show myself what a good job I had done .,
I turned the key on and nothing. No lights absolutely nothing..,
Checked the fuses ..,, All good,., Still nothing. ...
Unhooked the relay ....,still nothing ....
Checked the battery ... Completely flat 4.6 volts ....
Darkness is setting in .... Out of time...,
I hooked up the battery charger and covered her up for the night...
When I put her on the trailer Thursday the battery was fine...
I have no idea what I have done wrong but the timing is terrible...
The GOTG is just around the corner ..
I will try and figures something out tomorrow ...

Wasted 4 valuable hours this morning going over the electrical system
and my electrical modifications.
i can find nothing wrong.
im going to go with the dead battery was just a fluke coincidence ....

I installed the new led headlight this morning ...
I went with the tach industries kit ...
I like it ...
I also installed a digital tiny tachometer

And now in the process of leak checking and fitting the new tank ......

Saturday
Mileage..3,465

Took her to the fall gathering for a shakedown run ...
Ran into a fuel problem ..
Going up the mountain as it clicked 131 miles on the new tank
i ran out of gas. I quickly switched her to reserve .....
Nothing , nada. I had about 3 inches of gas in the tank ..
I couldn't pick up any fuel at all ..
once again being a cheap bastard has come back
to bite me in the a$$ ..
I saved a few dollars buying a Chinese petcock from
Amazon .. I was rewarded with a petcock with a
Nonfunctional reserve ... Luckily I was pulling plenty of fuel ..
saved money totally wasted ..
A genuine Yamaha petcock is on the way ..
I was really surprised how much noise the skid plate
reflects back to the rider ..
The noise level has doubled ...
To the point of being annoying ..
I can no longer hear the beautiful roar of my tires ..
Ohh well it is what it is ..
The new foot pegs are much better for standing but I prefer the original pegs
when in the sitting position ..
The led headlight is a little better then the stock light ..

I promise I will stop bitching about them now 😀
Today I finally got off my arse and ordered a couple of #34 pilot jets .

Don't have to worry about removing seat bolts... if you just ride a motorcycle that ain't got no seat...

I sit here boiling, like I do every time I think about that TW200 seat. It angers me. If only they had redesigned it sometime during the 30 year run.

So, I get to thinking... Maybe no seat bolts is the solution.. I load it on the trailer and head out to Moab (yeah, I know I am too sissy to do Moab). Halfway there, the seat flies off into the ditch. When I get to Moab I hop on and try to keep up with Fred.

I suspect, that nobody would notice that the TW feels any different without a seat.

And remember that the seat flew off into the ditch? If some homeless guy found it, he'd think it was a 2x4 and take it back to camp to make a table out of it.

Sunday
3,745 miles

Friday night I pulled the tank to tackle the gas leak .
I pulled the Amazon petcock that didn't have a working reserve and tossed it in a bucket .....
Covered both sides of the gasket that came with the Clarke tank with permatex 85420......
And set it aside to tack up ....
cleaned the area well on the tank .....
Installed the gasket and a brand new genuine Yamaha petcock .....
reinstalled the tank . Covered the bike . Went to bed .
I thought it might help to let the permatex set awhile before adding gas ...
I have never been a fan of using any kind of goop on a fuel system but sometimes
you just gotta do what you gotta do .....
This morning I went to check on the petcock.
The gasket had slipped out from under the petcock agian.... It's really a bad gasket design ..
Light Blue Bicycle part Yellow Motor vehicle

I put half a gallon of gas in it , let it set an hour ..... I was surprised everything stayed dry... No Leak !!!
I guess the permatex got to where it needed to be and did it's job .
soo I installed a twin air gas filter/strainer ( #160660 ) ......
Wood Plant Gas Electric blue Advertising
. Orange Peach Fashion accessory Auto part Electric blue
It was a super tight fit . But I finally got it in there ..
I'm sure a few months of gas and fumes and it will mould itself in just perfect. .
It was a little expensive for what it is but most farkles are 😎
We all know a clean carb makes for a happy T-dub .........
If it prevents one carb teardown on a cold rainy night with nothing but a Zippo lighter for light .......
IT WILL BE PRICELESS ! ! !
Rode it up to the station and put $17.63 worth of non- ethanol mid grade gas in it ....
Then ( as speedytide would say ) I rode it around the block for a test ride ......
Automotive parking light Vehicle Motor vehicle Wheel Car
. Went 50 miles with the petcock in the on position.
Then switched to reserve for the rest of the day .. Just to be sure it worked as it should .....
It turned out to be a great day . Every thing went well no leaks , great weather and a cold 🍺 with lunch 😀

Saturday

I finally had a chance to start my trailer wheel conversion .....
Seems like there's always time to work for others but seldom
time to do things for myself..... Lol
Automotive lighting Car Automotive tire Hood Motor vehicle

Im proud of this little $23 1/4 inch hole ,.......
None of the drill bits I had would drill this hub .
I ran to Lowe's and picked up a few Cobalt bits ..
They did just fine..
Unfortunately by this time the hole is off center .
Ohhh well crap happens ....
Automotive tire Tire Vehicle brake Alloy wheel Motor vehicle

I broke out the new 1/2 inch gear reduction drill and loaded it up with a 1 3/8 hole saw.
I had to put a longer pilot bit in the hole saw then I went to cutting ....
Automotive tire Manhole cover Rim Circle Automotive wheel system

As you can plainly see it turned out far from perfect.
Hopefully this hack job will Balance out ....
Art Font Circle Gas Snout

The cut on the lower left doesn't look to bad .
But every time I turned the hub for the next cut the
Positioning just kept getting worse ....

The hub almost fits.
Hopefully with a little clean up with the Dremel tool it will fit.
Automotive tire Automotive wheel system Material property Auto part Gas

Now comes the hard part.
I have to find that dang Dremel tool .
A place for everything and everything in it's place ..
But where that place is I haven't a clue ....
Hopefully I will find it by Christmas so I can get on with this project ....
When / if I do another wheel I will use a 1 1/4 inch hole saw .....
I will also try to do less of a hack job and get the cuts a little more precise .
Ohhh well It is what it is
