I just installed my Protaper bars today,and am amazed at how much better the bike feels.I also left the Protaper bars at stock length,the extra width allows me to see more with my mirrors, a double bonus.

The downside to wider bars is that if you ride in the woods you're more likely to clip a tree with them

I got and just installed a couple of weeks ago a generic version of the protapers, and it's like I bought a new bike. More comfortable bike now and I sit up better. My back doesn't even hurt after riding it. Best improvement I've made thus far. Enjoy yours.

Even at 5'9" I appreciate the taller bars -- much more comfortable.
