Queen Charlotte Islands-Trip Planning

1152 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  vuldub
I'm thinking about riding up to the Queen Charlotte Islands some time in 2011 possible mid June through early July or possibly later in the season late Aug to early Sept (but the day light is less).

This is an open invitation to see if others might be interested.

This will be about a 14 -18 day trip. We could start from my place in Central Washington or we could start at another place closer if .....................someone came forward and offered

The island has some great roads to explore, beaches to travel, and things to see. Also there is good fishing available, (I plan to take a fishing pole). Lodging on the south end of the island is reasonable.

I would like to travel light and fast and motel it up and back.

Ferry expenses on and off the island for bike and rider will be about $220.

Solo a trip like this would cost around $3,000 but depending on the number of riders this could be cut to $2,000 or less.

I'm just wondering if there might be any interest?

Hi Mike.

I didn't go to the QC Islands but did go to Prince Rupert on my Vrod last year. The BC ferry to PR and enjoyed it. It's a new ship and has a great dining room. One thing I do recommend is that you pay the $80 and get a cabin for the vouyage. 2 beds, a shower, satillite T.V. and a toilet make this trip easier. Great scenery!!!
Mike:

I can't go with ya, but I would love to. I spent Sept 1992 on the island in a camper. It was awesome. Loved Rose Point and Agate beach, north of Masset. Also loved Rennell Sound on the west side of Graham Island and Grey Bay on the east end of Moresby.
