I went out this afternoon exploring the trails around town for the first time ever since I moved here.

Here are some pictures of what I've seen. I wasn't expecting much since it's still cold up here and the snow did melt everywhere completely.

First stop at the reservoir. I tried to find a hole somewhere in the fence to take pictures of the water (there was many ducks) with no luck.

Took a small trail until I met that water spot. If it was summer time I would have tried myself at crossing it be the temp was a bit over 0C and I didn't want to risk being wet all the afternoon.

I turned around and took another trail.

Everywhere I went I had to get back because of the snow that was blocking the way. I know some of you do see any problem riding in the snow but I put only 500 kms on the bike yet. I'm still learning to ride it and don't want to take risk at that point. Needless to say that I was alone and 25 kilometres away from home.

On my way back I took some more pictures just for fun.

The last one

All in all it was a really nice ride! This bike is really fun to take on gravel roads and seems to have a lot of potential on more technical trails. ;-)

I noticed you still have the stock front tire... so caution was a good idea.

The area in the last pic looks like a great place to practice 8's and donuts.

The front tire isn't that bad. It's not the best for sure, but I was not afraid of loosing control because of a side wind. ;-)

I don't think I'll go to the area in the last pic again. There was a big gate blocking the entrance and it's owned by the city. :-(

Guitarman,

Taking it slow and easy is not a bad way to introduce yourself to the TW, or any motorcycle for that matter. Looks like a nice area to ride with trails everwhere. I bet you can hardly wait for the snow to melt all the way, and for the temperature to warm up. Thanks for sharing.

Guitarman, the issue with the front tire is not so much what it will or will not do on 'road'. On a loose surface, the front tire will sometimes let-go without good reason or warning . Not a confidence builder nor appreciated by the 'older' rider who's heart-rate should remain in the low 100's.

Thank you guys for your comments. I'll try to take more pictures next time but it's so hard to stop when your riding this bike! I'm sure you know what I mean! ;-)

@mrgizmow, I red many bad opinions about this front tire. I'm planning to put a Shinko 244 in a near future, which tend to get better comments here on the forum. I'll trust you guys and give it a try! ;-)

"TrailWing" tires of various descriptions are the O.E.M. tires on a lot of dualsports. They are almost universally tagged with the nickname "DeathWings" regrdless of whether or not they do in fact suck. They're typically swapped for almost anything else at the first opportunity.

In the case of the TW31 version the term fully applies. Wear 'em out, ditch 'em and replace them with dangnear anything else.
