I know this subject has been beaten to death in past threads, but I have 2 questions for those who have done it. I'm going to make my own bracket and planning on using 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" aluminum angle 1/8" thick. My questions are:
1) Is this the correct or best size and thickness of material to use?
2) Are longer bolts needed to attach it to the lower triple clamp due to thickness of bracket and thickness of spacers to make bracket mount flush?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I think you will be fine with 1/8 thick. Check the kit and bracket Procycle carries. They may list a thickness. I forget if I used washers or not. I think I did but used the stock bolts. I'd check but I have my bike stored away for the winter.
