Did someone pull them all out? Because, that is where a lot of terminals end. So it pretty much looks like a rats nest anyway.

Mine definitely looked nasty:

Other than making sure they are tucked into those boots, there's not much you can do. My old XZ550 had a horrible tangle as well, but Yamaha squeezed them inside the headlight bucket so it couldn't be seen.
