Boy Ronnydog, you must have got off work early today. I 'lost' my post on your tire repair thead. My question was; What would you be inclined to do if you were off hunting for three days and ran something into the tire (tube) the first day out? My thought was those damn ATV tires were so thick and stiff that a "flat" would be a non issue. Don't try to tell me that your Wife always follow's you in the VW

. With some good 'rim tape' and a high quality sealant would you not be likely to keep the air 'in place' should the tube be punctured? Gerry

You are right about the big tire flat problem and how to fix the tube when you can't get to the tube unless someone drives over it. A lot I MEAN A LOT OF THOUGHT has gone back and forth with Russ and I about a tubless back tire. We are working on that. I found some Air Lock tire seal that will fix a 1/2 inch hole in the tread and 1/4 inch hole in the sidewall and its the best I can do for now. Air Lock works in tubed tires.

Not sure how do-able this would be. Or as well, how much of a mess it would likely make. Could you not make every reasonable attempt to seal the spoke holes (air tight) from the inside the next time you have the tire off. Then drill the rim like you were going to install a rim-lock only put in place a schrader valve. When you re-install the tire, the tube of course would be 'filled' with sealant. Before the tire bead is pryed back onto the rim, dump some sealant in to flow between the tube and rim. My thought is this would further seal the spoke nipples and tire bead. Should the tube loose air, some would still be held within the tire casing. With a compromized tube, air could still be added to the tire casing via the secondary schader valve in the rim. Just a thought. Gerry

Going tubeless is the final hurdle, but we both question whether you could even seat the bead without a tube to push the tire. We'll see.



Gunna be interesting, but we'll get the problem solved eventually. Til then we'll just pray for a passing Jeep to come by and drive over it, er sumpin'.



And if I wait long enough Ronnydog and Gizmow will figger it out for all of us.
