Rear Turn Signals

Looking for a set of rear turn signals (non LED)for a 2001 TW. Looking for something shorter than the stock lights. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks and I wish everyone a happy new year...

You have countless choices, but I like the Baja Designs stuff if you are sticking with stalk mount signals.
Here's a thread where Hodakaguy shows you how to shorten your stock blinkers

Here's the Baja Designs rear turn signal.

If you also have a CycleRack, you can lay your TW on its side without breaking the turn signals.

Edit: I just checked the Baja Designs website, and at $33.00 a pair, I would think Hodaka Guy's modification of the stock turn signals seems to be the best bet.

Thanks very much for the replies. Hodaka Guy's mod looks perfect.

Be carful with aftermarket turn signals. Many lack luminosity to meet the required visibility. Most states require the signals be bright enough to be seen from 500 feet away in daylight. Many tiny aftermarket units and LED conversions are not bright enough to be legal.

That's a good point... To my surprise, the one's I posted above from Cycle Gear are quite a bit brighter than the stock one's.
That's just what I'm looking for. Thanks

P.S The price is also right.

Note that USDOT and most state DOTs require reflectors. Aftermarket turn signals sometomes don't reproduce the reflective properties of the stock lamps.
My stock '89 turn signals were so dull (illumination-wise and reflective-wise) that anything would have been an improvement.

I'm looking for Hodakaguy's method for shortening the stock rear turn signals. The photos are dead links. Are there any newer postings of this? Sounds straight forward, but photos would help me be sure I can get this done cheaply and durably. Anyone shortened the stock ones and like it? After shortening, I will move them in to the bumpout that holds the red rear brake/running light. Thanks.
I just put these on my bike.

Love them. Here's a pic on my bike with my super shitty first try at a bracket XD.

Nothing special but it really makes the back end look a lot cleaner.

Does anyone know where you could find the pictures?

I'd like to try to shorten mod on my turn signals. Thanks in advance!
Seems like this thread is due for a yearly bump. Anyone have any pics or experiences to share from using Hodakaguy's method? I'm definitely a pictures guy...

After looking at all the lighting upgrade options I've come to the conclusion that I would like to keep the stock look as much as possible with some modifications such as shortening the stock signals. My ideal situation is to shorten the signals, add some LEDs for the signals and tail light along with a JNS headlight and be done with it. I really want to keep the stock front running lights so this is a motivator as well.
You can buy led strips and they just stick onto your liscence plate and wire in the same as your old lights.
One can also simply replace the incandescent 1156 & 1157 bulbs with LED 1156 & 1157 bulbs. Like the incandescents the LEDs are usually available with various lumens output; I recommend searching a bit and selecting the brightest available. Many US resellers carry older inventory so newest technology and better prices can often be found on eBay and Amazon.

Thanks Fred. That's my exact plan is to replace stock signals with 1157 and 1156 LED bulbs - as well as the tail light and indicators. And thanks for the buying guidance. I've been exploring options at superbrightleds.com but will take a look at other options.

What I'm trying to determine now is if I need diodes and a flasher. I posted the same in this thread where lugnut suggested they weren't required: https://www.tw200forum.com/forum/pe...n-signal-set-up-2003-tw200-3.html#post1006918

Thanks again!
