Is it possible that a rev counter is installed without serious modification? An XT600 tacho looks like the TW's speedometer, so it would go together. Or it is a lost cause, should I use inductional rev counter instead? (I have an TW125 by the way:rolleyes:)

Hi Gorak,

Welcome to the form!

I am not familiar with the XT600 tachometer. Do you know if it is mechanically driven or electronically driven? Since the TW200, and I assume the TW125 also, do not have either mechanical or electronic provisions for reading engine rpm's, you would have to adapt the TW to provide the required input to the XT600 tachometer. I am not aware of any easy way to measure TW rpm's other than the type of digital tachometer that you mention.

Here is one of many electric powered/drivien tachs that are out there. This one is switchable from dual to single fire mode. That means if the coil is fired on the compression stroke only versus every time the piston hits TDC. The TW 200 fires every rotation. Not sure about the TW125. That's what you have to figure out. (I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that the 125 fires every rotation.) There are many other's out there.
I prefer the analog gauges. You can glance and know where you're at without having to process a number.

I looked the market tachs like yours, but I wasn't sure the accuracy, and an analog tachometer is what I prefer. I'm thinking more about to have a digital type.

I'd like to find out if there is the TW's crankcase pre-prepared to install an analog tacho, (I have an old East-Germanian motorcycle, the crankcase has the preparation for the analog tacho, and a neutral-indicator, but not installed at all, should buy the spur gears, drill hole, etc. but it can be carry out). So you assume that the TW is not prepared for analog tacho....:(
An XT600 tacho is suitable for TW: tacho1.jpg

I prefer analog gauges also, thatswhy i'd like to put in the XT600's tacho, but it seems that the cranckcase is not prepared to install gears for the drive.
