I've searched high and low here for info on how to rewire the headlight.

No success.



I want the light OFF when the switch is on LOW beam.

And I want the light on HIGH, when the switch is on HIGH beam.



Any help is appreciated.

Yamaha was even kind enough to put a connector on the yellow wire in there.



Without the low beam always on, I figure I'll have more juice and battery recharge capacity to run some accessories.

Remember that wire will still be hot when the switch is on low beam. If it's a male connector you'll want to insulate it.

That's an even better idea.

And to correct my earlier comment, the low-beam wire to disconnect is the GREEN one.

On the older tws we just remove the switch and file the top of the opening re install switch. This allows you to move the switch one click higher, passing the contact point and turning the light off.

If you have a Pre-2001 TW (with the slider switch instead of the rocker-type switch) it's a 5 minute job to do this --

Hey Truelight, after the mod does it still click into low beam or do you find yourself turning the light off by accident when trying to dim them?

A toggle in the instrument cluster to turn off the brake/tail. Now we are talking!

Greetings, I would like to switch off my headlight low beam as described above (for off-road use only). Is there any problem with battery over-charging or any other electrical disadvantage?? From what I have read here, the electrical system is well balanced and I do not want to create a problem by not running the headlight. BTW, I joined the "old forum" in 2006 and have been an occasional reader. Just bought the kick start kit from North Bay and will attempt the install with the help of the info posted here. Thanks folks.

I like the idea of being able to start my bike WITHOUT having the headlight on...competing for precious battery juice!
