I’ve used duct tape with no problems. You should be just fine. I did replace the tape with a rim strap a couple years later when I replaced the tire.

Never tried it but should be fine. Especially if you have the Heavy Duty tubes, but still should be ok with standard tubes.

Been done in every State of The Union, except New York.
Take a walk on the wild side. Be The First!
A good test would be a ride to Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and let us know how the rim strip did.
Oh, and uh, how the Que was! Nothing tastes quite as good as vicarious barbecue.

Get some of that Gorilla Tape! It's thicker and worth the extra coin.

If you run low pressures off road, 3 or 4 wraps isn't a bad idea. I've done this in the past and when it was time to change the tire found out I was almost worn through the tape to the spoke nuts. I've made a rim strip from another old inner tube before, but deflated they need to be slightly smaller than the middle section of the rim.
