I had a beautiful 2014 Kawasaki Teryx I planned to use as a sort of glorified golf cart to drive from my storage unit at the far back of a giant facility up to the gate to meet customers but with that CVT I had to bring the RPM way up just to roll 5 mph I literally needed earplugs

I wanted a rig that I could drop the clutch and put along at low RPM's until I needed to crack the throttle open for highway speeds I hate screaming the motor just to get rolling

NO experience with one but I have a hankering for one of these.......

I am more of a farmer than a trail rider so this would work! Sure there are other options listed here I will check out!
I'd check a Honda out before you get stuck with a CVT

I have a 2021 Yamaha Wolverine. Had an Arctic Cat before that.
After all the testing I did it was the only one that I liked. The Polaris was a solid no. The Honda was a kind of a maybe. Going into shopping I thought the Teryx was what I would want, but preferred the Yamaha by a large margin. Loved the Teryx looks but not the noise or build quality.
Yamaha really, really builds good stuff!
Just my 2 cents.

well said BlackHills ! The Teryx was a great size and looked very nice I thought it was perfect until I drove it

the Honda has paddle shifters and a regular clutch and I know the Yamaha YXZ1000's are that type of tranny also but Yami had weird gear ratios maybe they have fixed that by now

I'll have to check out the Wolverine I have seen one on a trailer but never really got to lick the tires so to speak lol

Mine is the XTR R-Spec. I still think the Kawaski Teryx like you have pictured is really a sharp unit.
I am not a huge SxS fan but they are fun and I like the bed in the back for taking a dog with you or anything else you want to take or bring back. I also like the easy in & out. I did take the shoulder side guards off which was the one and only thing I did not like about it. I also use it to plow snow, more for the fun of it than a requirement.
I don't care for the sand rail-style SxSs that have kind of taken over. But that Hot Yamaha 1000 does look mean as heck, but that is not what we have ours for.
I prefer to ride something like a bike or quad, over driving something, but a SxS does give you a lot of uses for two people or people and a dog.

If there was one thing I would like different on our Wolverine - It would be a mode that you could put it in so it was reduced power right on the - off idle takeoff. It's almost like it's too powerful. There are places that reprogram the ECU's on the Wolverine to tame them down, but it's about $400 to do it and it's your ECU they reflash instead of a plug & play which I would be more inclined to do. I have not checked in quite a while if there is anything new out there in the ECU stuff.
I just live with it and try to be light-footed.
My Grizzly quad is the same way and actually more so. You touch the throttle on that Griz and you better be holding on and not picking your nose, or you'll be off the back and on your butt.

Just one thing - after reading more of your posts - I don't know that these SxS's are really apples to apples for the Roxor machine. Maybe holding out and finding one of them just might be the ticket for come of you. Its- Just an observation. For some of the others, an idea might be a gas or electric, lifted golf cart with big ATV tires?

I don't put the ROXOR in the same category as various side by sides and I will have to own both at some point

I'm leaning towards a Honda Talon and a Honda Pioneer and a ROXOR then I'll decide which SXS fits my needs the off road racer Talon or the work horse Pioneer

I like the idea of the 500 and 700 Pioneers as well so I have have to own all 3 sizes of Pioneers

I traded my honda pioneer in on the Roxor. 40mph with it wound out just doesn't get it. If you do find a roxor, be sure to get an 18 or 19 They have better gearing with 3.73 as compared to 5.38 in the later models. As mine will do 84 after chipping the engine it cruises nicely at 2000 rpm at 60, same gearing as most pickups. I think they put the lower gears in the later models to keep them off road only.

Another diesel rig not available here. Not this one but when courting my wife I made deliveries for her stained glass works in Brazil in a stretched version. Nice truck but not the best fpr glass deliveries. Great for heavy construction materials though.

Based on the Toyota LandCruiser 40 and called the Bandeirante it was avaialbe in 2 or 4-door with a variety of cab configurations and bed lenghts.

My wife's was a 2-door with custom 3 meter flat bed but I've seen them with 4 and 5 meter long flatbeds.
That stiffly sprung Land Cruiser made a pretty good Land Crusher in the mud but a bit of a Bone Crusher when enduring urban traffic. Torquey Diesel was slow but got 'er done.

Those were the best truck Toyota ever made. Still see them around here.

Other diesel rigs you won't see on the road here but used to see in Brazil...naked frame trucks being driven down the highway just like this, maybe drivers have a helmet and Brazil's mandatory tire inflation lines. Likely on way to custom coach builders I was a little surprised when a couple of these passed me on my first day incountry.
The open air ride must have been impressive, like on a TW only with more torque and no side stand.

Traveling is such a good way to get us out of our comfort zones. Another first day surprise was what I thought was a streetside Coke machine. No soda, but sold 12 once pull tab cans of 80 proof distilled cane liquer. If you were tall enoufgh to feed coins into the machine you could buy booze, just don't pull the tab too soon since once open there is no re-sealing can...drink the whole thing. 🙃

Interesting, but at 2990 lbs, why not buy a used TJ or JK?

My Kawasaki Mule FX weighs 1600lbs, and it is just too big for some of the trails on my place, But the thing is a workhorse for sure.
I do not know anything about a Roxor...but of course that doesn't stop me from commenting.

If you take the top, the rear seat and the spare off a TJ it will get very close to the 3000-pound limit for unassisted braked towing behind a motorhome...

When the side by side's came out....the Forest Service I know.... decided they would not build another trail system for them but now many States allow street legal side by sides on public roads and so there are plenty of opportunities on and off roads to use them....

I have a Honda with Tatou snow tracks on it and it is great fun . I have never put the tires on it....it is an over snow only vehicle and perfect for what I want to do.... light, dependable and a local dealer...to service and repair it. It has a winch and a snowplow to clear the snow from access road and parking area. I have never been stuck in it...

Now, I am not into diesel unless I need the torque to move 15k pounds or more......but I am into convenience and Jeeps...a modern Jeep has all the all the current safety features on it, and it has air and heat, and it can be driven at highway speeds on public roads anywhere in North America......AND it can be flat towed behind a motorhome.....and most important to me is that there are about 2500 Jeep Dealers in the USA that can service and repair it..

A new Jeep will depreciate slower than most vehicles but at some point.... probably because of inflation....it will actually appreciate. The Jeeps I have sold over the last 60 years are now valued at multiples of what I paid or sold them for...

You can sell an adult driven unmolested Jeep for a premium on Craig's List in a weekend.....

Ironically, Enzo Ferrari called the Jeep, America's sports car and now they are owned by the same company that owns Ferrari...:)

not a roxor but an older flat fender willys jeep
Yes, and probably worth a fair amount.

...destroyed. And it nearly killed him.

That's not the worst example I've seen, though. Back when the TJ was current, and Ewww Toob was new...there were vids of owners going up extreme trails and flipping or rolling them, sometimes great distances down mountainsides.

I never understood that. Why risk destroying your new truck that way? Just as Midwesterners go South or West to get rust-free used cars; people who want to to extreme climbing really would be (or would have been, when prices were reasonable) better served getting a rusty pile of crap, and rolling or flipping IT. Back in the day you could get one for two thousand dollars or so, and that's all you'd lose when, eventually, the inevitable happened.

It is pretty cool (if somewhat of a novelty, for me), but IMO, by far the best current side by side is the Yamaha YXZ1000 with factory turbo -- and yes, a real transmission (with a lower first gear than when it initially debuted) :)

I'm loving some of the rigs in this thread (that FJ, and the TDI YJ concept)! Very cool indeed.
