These are a really great group of people, very open and engaging to spectators. You will never see a wider/ weirder assortment of machinery, from streamliners to a fuzzy slipper golf cart.
John Wylie posts great Utube videos of the events and caught the Hondata car get loose at the big end. It doesn’t end well except the driver was unhurt.

If you watch the full length video, they interview the driver in the hospital and he is in pretty good shape.
The tech inspection area is the one place I don’t hang around asking stupid questions, I save that for the staging lanes.
They take safety very seriously and it shows when things go sideways.

I have taken my TW out on the salt at Bonneville the last two years. The salt is not completely dry and is kind of slippery. You have to be a little crazy to go five hundred on an unstable loose surface like that. Still, its cool to see. Some very nice and engaging people there. You sure see all kinds of folks and rigs. Everyone behaves for the most part and is there to have a good time. Sort of a seven mile long tailgate party with fast cars.
