It depends on a few things, really. It's consumable by nature so no two bikes will wear the same. Riding style, chain adjustment, offroad vs. onroad use.what is the life/mileage of the OEM to begain with and why replace if not used up?
My experience was that mine was worn enough to warrant replacing as I had it down to the frame for powder coating. At ~13200km the chain had cut over halfway through and the rollers were now dragging. So I replaced it. I wasn't as meticulous as I am now with chain maintenance, and that bike stayed dirty and lived outside so I think I'm probably on the short end of the life span.
It's a real pain to replace because you have to drop the swingarm to do it, so most don't replace them as often as they should be
