I drank the 241 Kool Aid a few years ago and haven't looked back. I will agree that it is not a good looking tread pattern, but it definitely makes up for that with performance.Everyone here is gaga for the Shinko 241, but (& I’ll get crucified for this by the purists) I didn’t care for the aesthetic of the tire on the bike. In that regard, the E700 satisfies.
Mine came with the golden boy, 244 and it was terrible in mud. It lasted 3 rides and was replaced with a Pirelli MT43 trials tire.If you don't like the look of the 241, I think that the 244 looks better and would also be a better mud, snow, ice tire than the e700.
