Calling all T Dubbers!!!
June 8-9

Escape the heat and come ride with fellow TW200 owners in the Big Bear area.
We will explore areas off highway 38 and/or Holcomb Valley. Route TBD.

Camping and lodging available nearby meeting spot. Meeting spot marked in orange on map. Reservations will need to be made soon.

Dual sport ride (must be plated).
Beginner friendly.
Easy/moderate trails.
No drop ride. Not a race. (meaning we will all stick together).
Meet at Big Bear convention center fueled up at 8:30 AM.
Kickstands up at 9:00 AM.
Plan on a late lunch in town.

What to bring:
Good attitude.
Enough water for the day.
Snacks.
Any personal items you need.
We will help each other out but please try to be prepared.
Basic first aid.
Etc.

Due to high fire danger no smoking while on trail. The forest also requires spark arrestors.

There was not enough interest for a group camp so I'm gonna be lazy and stay at the hotel 6 across the street from the convention center (meeting spot).

It would be great to ride in Big Bear with fellow TWs. I'd be riding from Green Valley Lake and can meet the group anywhere up there.

Posted this on Fbook page as well - FYI June 15-16 is the IE4W Big Bear Forest Fest 4x4 run held each year on Fathers Day weekend. Depending on trails used may be crowded with Jeeps. Just a heads up.

It'll be June 8th and 9th.

I checked and father's day counts as a holiday so prices will be higher and 3 day minimums apply at many hotels and campgrounds.

I will most likely head up friday night.

-Saturday Ride. Meet at Big Bear Convention Center (easy access to fuel up. Maybe do a late lunch or early dinner as a group if you'd like.
-Sunday hit a trail or two depending on interest.

This will be mixed riding.
Expect easy to moderate. I don't do my own stunts lol.
No Drop Ride, we will stick together to help each other through if needed.

Possible campgrounds include Serrano (pretty much an rv park. Will require early reservations.), Holcomb Valley, and Hanna Flat.

Otherwise there is a Motel 6 across from the Big Bear Convention center that I have stayed at several times.

Awesome ride out to pappy and harriets to have lunch
Yes it is. With good offshoots for slightly technical options.

They had a pretty decent winter up there so I'm gonna have to pre run some areas to get an idea of difficulty, time, and fuel.

I know all of those trails in a 4x4 but obviously a bike changes things. It can make it much easier or sometimes harder. So fear not, I shall test the waters lol.

This sounds great! I’m not a Facebooker so I’ll keep an eye on this thread. Depending on the day, I’d be up for scouting with you. I’m not familiar with BB trails at all.
Many of the trails on our proposed route are under winter closure until about memorial day. I'm gonna try to get up there before that to check the other trails though. I'll keep ya posted.

Damn I only missed this by five months. Love that area. We always end up near there at Thanksgiving.

Big Bear got hit with a decent winter this year so we went up to preride for this trip.
Some of the hard trails I hoped to find an easy path through need a taller bike or a much better rider. So those will have to wait for another day. A trail I consider easy was pretty rough, impassable by a 4x4. But should be easier by the time our trip comes along. The group that maintains it was notified.
Lots of ruts right now. They actually claimed my bike a few times lol.

I hope to get up there one more time before the event. I'm forced off the bike for a few weeks though to heal my knee.
