I'll never need to worry about riding two-up and I would like a more comfortable, wider seat. Has anyone come up with a solo seat to replace the stock saddle ? I ride mostly on road, commuting and would like to start camping so the additional rack space would be nice too. I have a cycleracks on now and I'm looking at adding a set of panniers.

"K" I have done a solo seat. Comfort is not a given with this mod. I am comfortable, but then, I have an 'AirHawk' seat cushion. My desire was to move my rear 'trunk' forward for better off-road balance. I surely have better balance, the same level of comfort as I had with the stock seat (with Airhawk). My cautionary note is, if you carry any load on the back, you will tend to move it forward with a shorter seat. If you are as well, less than limber you will find swinging your leg over (given the reduced space) a pain in the, ah, leg (?). Solo seats can look nice, I used one from a newer Honda 900. However, there are some 'notable' negatives such as mounting the bike, and no guarantee of comfort without extra effort. Gerry

Thanks Gerry. I'll certainly need to look at the amount of restriction getting on and off. After a couple knee operations, the left knee sure ain't what it used to be. I'm also looking at a top box and the height of it needs to be such that I can get my leg over when my knee stiffens up. This getting old really sucks.
