Brad, thank you so much for being a creator. Let's be honest; without some really dedicated TW owners, a huge chunk of our aftermarket wouldn't exist. Big companies don't want to spend money creating and marketing stuff to a niche market like us, and even if they do it's usually garbage that's engineered and made in China.

I won't be needing anything you're selling but many folks will. But you already know that because you're actively creating more aftermarket :)

I am always shocked at the negative comments on these posts. "Farkles" and all. There was a post a few months ago where someone (a fellow forum member) posted their very reasonably priced quick release seat bolts, but most of the replies were forum members (who apparently knew better) crapping on the idea and detailing how to MacGyver together a quick fix for 5 dollars. In a thread the guy made to promote his wares.

These aren't "farkles". Every one of Brad's products has been purpose built. These aren't chrome plated plastic to make your Vulcan look more like a Harley or carbon fiber printed plastic to make your R1 look more like Rossi. Everything was created by a person to solve a problem for his fellow TW enthusiasts. "I've never needed a clutch bypass" doesn't mean it's a stupid idea, it means you obviously have never needed a clutch bypass. I've never needed to park in an accessible parking spot, so that must mean they're unnecessary, right?

I'm sorry for the rant but I think we can be a little better as a community with how we interact with each other and our very different perspectives.

* edit: I have no connection to any sellers in this forum or any other, just thought I should point that out

Most here are clever enough to make their own version of quick release seat fasteners and did a favor for letting the guy know before he sunk the family fortune into marketing something few were ever going to buy. And that's beside the point that his product wasn't anywhere near as practical as something anyone with a few basic tools could fab up themselves.
The items BP designs and markets are typically not only impractical for individuals to fab but offer very high quality as well. That doesn't mean he's not going to get some feedback about them and how they either fall short, could be improved or priced out of range. The tow hitch for example was not able to use a trailer ball, but with a simple mod on the fabrication, could be.
If marketers don't like feedback on their products AND take that feedback to heart, well, boo-hoo...

There are ways to word things that help and other ways that insult. I really hope they ignore your post.

See...how does it feel?

I came off a little hot there and I apologize. I wasn't referring to legitimate feedback though. The other post was someone running an etsy store where (I'm fairly certain) he was making stuff to order. I don't think they were looking to get rich but rather were offering a service to their fellow Dubbers. They had a bunch of other great products too, including lighting and switch mounts specifically designed to bolt on to a TW. I think that's incredible! I've been drinking the TW koolaid long enough to remember "the good old days" when no one knew what fit, and 90% of the stuff people were buying was being altered to fit. I'm a purist; I don't want to hack something together to make it fit on my bike. But instead of just leaving the poor guy be, there were several very unsupportive comments in the same vein as some of the comments in this post. And I think when some very senior, familiar forum accounts leave negative comments like that, it acts as a deterrent. If you are a newer member, or someone finding a forum post here through a Google search, comments from established forum members are going to have a bit of weight to them. When I joined this forum in the dark ages (2008?) I didn't know any better and would have been very receptive to what the regulars had to say.

I dunno, I feel like we should be more nurturing as a community when folks go out on a limb to make new products for our very, very niche market. One, because it's a very, very niche market that, rightfully, doesn't see a lot of innovation beyond necessity... and two, because most of the people making products for this very, very niche market are just everyday people with families, careers, and hobbies who choose to sell those products to us, the peanut gallery. If we, as a forum, collectively shit on Cogent's $800USD rear shock for being too expensive, do you think an incredible drop-in aftermarket part like that would exist right now? Or the classic Jimbo windscreen... I think they look really dorky. They're not my thing. But I understand that there are people who would absolutely benefit from it, and I also understand that telling the forum I think it's dorky looking accomplishes absolutely nothing.

Sorry Ski Pro, this second rant is not directed at you at all. But you make a good point. I would hate to see a seller get cold feet and drop a product or their web presence because of some vocal and negative comments. If I was producing something in very small batches like some of our people, and I read some of these comments... well, I would probably reconsider giving up a weekend to run my webstore that I could spend doing anything else, like riding. We're a small community and any innovation in the TW aftermarket is good innovation IMO. This all might seem a little emotional but gall dangit, I love my TW, I love that this forum exists, and I love this community. I just want the best version of it we can offer!

edit: I'm also really sorry for derailing this awesome thread. I'm 100% guilty of that. Sorry folks

JimmyD;

You need not feel bad about your first post. Was spot on. Many times I have started to reply about the same stuff. But to be accurate and make the reasoning points clear, the post becomes way to long; and then I delete it realizing it won't change anything. People will just go on and on creating multiple pages, that are totally irrelevant to a person looking into the stated thread info, to argue why they are right on every assertion they make; and if anyone says anything about it; they then have to argue with that person about their reasons why they are right to argue with the other person. Just last week I was reading a thread with the same thing going on; and on; and on!

So, JimmyD; Don't feel bad. You just stated what others are feeling when they come across this type of..........stuff.

Any front drum brake folks who can't wait for the Bradley front disc conversion can contact me r.e. converting to 2003 fork/disc replacement w/ rebuilt pair of forks with disc, caliper, brake pads, hydraulic hose and a TTR master cylinder complete with lever. Would need a disc specific TW wheel & hub wirth speedometer pick-up. Also have non-leaking drum brake forks available.

🤪 just a update and if any forum members have the 200 van van , the bike handles ok with the big front wheel combo on it , takes a little getting used to but ok ( this is street use only)
That engine must be geared higher for street standard than the tw , as he claims 75mph on it and this guy is no light weight either
