Again, facing the challenge of having limited access to parts on island. Getting close to 7,000 miles (in 10 month) on my 2010 Tdub and should change the spark plug. The local shop does not have the recommended spark plug but sold me a substitute, a "Champion Copper Plus" 809 RA6HC. Any advise if I can use this instead of the NGK or DENSO?

That Champion number does cross with the stocker on most crossreferences.

resistance values can be different with each plug manafacturer. the bike you tried champion in may have been setup for something completely different. i have had nissan trucks that loved nd but hated champion. my lawnmowers however use champion and they run great.

I just order NGK's from Amazon - how lazy am I?

I live/work/commute in San Francisco. It seems there is a certain urban element that uses porcelain for cooking (rocks). Every six months or so I'll walk up to the parked bike and have a no-start condition. A quick plug check shows the porcelain top is broken off. I keep a spare in the toolkit and another in my riding bag. Those iridium/platinum's would add up fast:).
