I am not familiar with the TW200 and I do not have a manual yet. I want to remove the engine cover to see what size front sprocket I have. Does the cover seal engine oil and am I going to need a drip pan when I remove the cover? Just a yes or no answer will do. Thank you.

Yes, the engine side cover holds in the oil.



You may need to replace the gasket also.

It would be a whole lot easier to simply peek in the rear (where the chain goes in)and take a drop of white out or model paint, and dap a spot on one of the teeth that you can see, then slowly rotate the tire and count them. No muss, no fuss.

If its stock, they are 14T front 50T Rear.

And.....when you put the cover back on DON'T PINCH THE WIRES, very easy to do the first time.

If you end up taking down the left cover, remember that you can still do it without draining the engine oil... just put the bike on a rear stand and make it lean slightly to the right by sliding something underneath the stand. Wait a couple of minutes and you can remove the cover, just a few drops of oil will come out.

Sinophilia, thanks for the tip. I have used that trick on the Buell and my H2 in the past. Hope to make it back to Verona and find Romeo and Juliet's tomb. We where in your town 2 years ago and the Tomtom GPS was sending us around and around the bus station and we eventually gave up. Thanks again.,

When you take off the cover, you'll have wires that attach to it. I have a zip tie ready and then take of the cover off (its magnetized so, a little tug may be necessary) and use the zip tie to secure the cover to the frame.
