When I bought the bike I replaced the sprockets with a 15 front and 44 rear an odd even set up. The combo really worked great except I want a little more mid range. So I just bought a new 15 front and 47 rear. My concern is both sprockets are an odd number. The Guys at the parts counter say it should work fine.I am open to feedback before I install a potential nightmare of improper gearing or maybe I am worrying about nothing?

No problem. 47 is a prime number. Even better if your link count is not a multiple of either tooth count.
