I'm hoping someone can tell me why my steering lock no longer will engage. My bike is a 2009. Just this week I am no longer able to go from the off position to the steering lock position. I'm doing as I always have, turning the wheel to the lock, pushing down on the key and turning it. The key will not turn. I've checked that there is nothing preventing the wheel from turning all the way up against the lock. What else can I look at.

Thank you,

Wayne.

I'd look at that bottle of silicon lubricant or wd40 setting on your shelf and spray everything but the lock tumblers. The lock I'd try with a bit of graphite. Its just showing the grit of Idaho in its innards. Tom

Try not pushing down on it. My steering lock works fine and I actually have to pull the key up a little for it to turn to the left and engage the lock. If I press down on it, like I had to do with my other bike, it will not turn.
