I don't like minor rattling of brake and clutch levers metal on metal contact so I use very thin nylon shims between lever and perch to quit things down, allows me to concentrate on valve noise and the famous front end clunk:D What I call the seven-cent psuedo-farkle is simple nylon shim from Lowe's big enough to fit over 8mm lever pivot shaft. Think they are about 3/8 id x 5/8 od x 1/32 inch. Allows good lever action w/o annoying wobble.

It is just a very simple thing but wobbles and rattles and banging represents inefficiencies and wear, offends my engineering sensitivities. Blame it on reading too much Robert Heinlein science fiction in my impressionable youth. Just thought I'ld mention this as an alternative to overtightening perch pivots to crush away free play which can result in a grabby lever action.
