I just got a 1987 tw200 that was swamped in 1993. I need to rebuild the topend and was wondering if there is any site vendors or recomended vendors that you guys use. I need the obvious - piston kit, gasket set, valve seals, cam chain, and many various other parts. For the top end, a big bore kit might be an option if the price is right.

Thanks guys

I hope you don't need a a lot of electrical parts (especially a cdi) as the 87's have a one of a kind electrical system for that year only.

If you are located in the U.S. try one of these. Your local Yamaha dealer should have a online store also.

www.ronayers.com

www.mrcycles.com

www.boats.net (I use this one a lot)

If you have any other questions, try searching first since we've already discussed a lot about 1987's. Feel free to revive any old threads that interest you.

to properly search this site and it's previous incarnation first go to google

type in (site:tw200forum.com) and add whatever you are looking for. example site:tw200forum.com 87 cdi

Don't bother using the search box in this site because it's horrible.

There is also some helpful info on what we call the backup site. Most of us are members there also, sometimes this site will go down and we shift our conversations over there until things get fixed here. http://tw200.forumotion.com/

I'm pretty familiar with all the mainstream vendors like:

Bike Bandit

Cheap Cycle Parts

Dennis Kirk

Motorcycle Superstore

I was hoping to find a vendor that worked with the enthusiasts. Perhaps a shop that focused on these bikes or had more parts available than most. If this is not out there, then perhaps some useful cross refference information. It looks as though the BW200 piston will work, is this correct? How about the gasket set? Any other useful cross overs?

Thanks guys

I was typing while you posted Rich. Thanks for the bits of advice, I had already seen first hand how painful this search engine is, I appreciate the google tip.

Are the cdi's from other years interchangeable? I don't really care about keeping it a perfect resto.

This place has a pricematch guarantee which is always nice so if you shop around you can get everything from the same place for the lowest price from different sources. They are also extremely nice and knowledgable with fast shipping from NC. All in all you can't beat it! Even if they didnt have such great customer service

I would still give them my business seeing how they are willing to match prices from any website, not including ebay or amazon.

Thanks for the link Jordan. I'll add that to the list. I am still looking for a top end option. Is there an affordable piston/cylinder kit (bigger bore maybe) not much over though, I don't want to sacrifice reliability.

For the electrical parts, I have had good luck with Ricks Motorsports Electrics. Found them on one of the ATV shows. They seem to not only have electric parts for bikes and ATV's they seem to know what the parts do. HTH Gary
