Ok, gauging interest here for a get together of sorts.

So when I rode and belonged to the KLR650 forum many times they would have regional tech/mod days at members house's. People would ride or trailer bikes to the location then work on them possible ride afterward, bbq etc.

Basically I'm offering up my garage/patio in Walnut Creek for a similar gathering. I have a one+ car detached garage and large drive way behind gates, if needed also a 10x10 EZ-Up and a 6x6 ez-up. Motorcycle/atvjack and tools. I have a pretty green horn experience with TW's i.e. changing oil, plugs, routing tachs, banshee shock mods, skid plates, basically most of the easy mods on the forum.

Any interest out there for a tech day/get together?

I've picked up a lot of knowledge and support off this forum and just thinking this might be a chance to give back in a different way.

PS- Hell I'll even pick up some sausages to grill.

I grew up in Walnut Creek, how strange. Remember being around 10 and another fellow and myself rode our bicycles thru the big concrete tunnel that routed the Creek in Walnut Creek underneath downtown. Boy that was stupid as we could not see a thing, had no real idea if the creek bottom was concrete for the whole length. To top it off, I was wearing flip-flops and gashed my big toe on I know not what because it was pitch black.....

Wish you and the guys a fun time. Do you think if I show up, the fellas would be interested in a TW adventure thru the bowels of 'down-town'? At least now we wear shoes and have headlites......

Do either of you know Flathead Jack in Walnut Creek?

Whoa! Flathead Jack----no I don’t know him but I did meet him once at one of the March Meets or Hot Rod Reunions or something like that, maybe 12-15yrs. ago. I was making my way around the pits w/ a buddy that is “mini” flathead guru. Whenever I’m in my buddies shop, usually one of the engine projects is a flathead.

Anyway, on this day, Flathead Jack and Bob were going on and on about some flathead Mercury engine build. I listened for a while but finally I’d had it and split. He sure can get wrapped up talking about flatheads, the motor that gave us “ three pots and a full cam”

Although, back in the sixties, he is well known for flatheads, I believe he spent more time racing hemis. (maybe)

For the younger set the flatheads were in the first drag cars back when drag racing was top speed only. It’s a pretty weak v-8 and only has three mains w/ ifffy webs. Back when it was the thing the guys actually put a load of nitro in it. I’m still to close.

Well, this has been a real “hyjack”. My bad. The name just rang a bell. My apologies to the OP.

Back to the original program.

Ron

If I lived in the Bay Area I would enjoy attending a TW tech day.

josh, the tech day really is a good idea. Seems like like progress can be made when a few guys of common interest get together and hash things over. Ron
