With traffic getting thicker all the time and my age creeping up, I figured riding double with my cruisers is getting a bit more dangerous to a passenger. Love them but if I ever dropped it even while just holding it up wouldnt be good.
So I just picked up an SL polaris slingshot in red. Has the auto tranny which is amazing how it shifts. In a car you just put your foot down and go. This thing shifts like it is a manual. Put your foot down and when picking up the next gear it drops the engine rpm automatically. You can get it to shift early by backing off the throttle a bit to catch the next gear. It has get with over 200hp. 220 on the speedo but is electronically controlled at 125. It will never see that anyway.

Sounds like a good way to keep riding. With over 200 hp should be enough surplus to power up some good hand warmers for your chronically cold paws. Seem to recall a few instances where cold hands were more than just an inconvenience on our rides.

I've ridden a couple of Spyder's and did not like the handling at all. Sort of felt like a quad with one flat front tire. If the road had a crown it wanted to pull to the shoulder and any bump would make the bars shake. Now this was their top of the line touring model that was supposed to have a steering damper. They say you get used to the handling but for me the learning curve was too steep.

The slingshot has over 200hp! You can get it with an automatic or a 5speed. It corners like an F1. I looked at a couple can ams. Sure nice to have a steering wheel instead of bars. And with all the controls for speed control and radio there is nice. I am taking it in for them to install gps in it today, if it doesnt rain. Those big tires are easy to hydroplane.

Might add that sitting side by side low in the bucket seats is much more comfortable.
