All of my 2 stroke bikes have a single throttle cable and a spring returns to a closed position, even some of my vintage 4 strokes. so do we REALLY need the pull back cable on the throttle? it just causes extra drag on the pull open. I suppose one could argue that its a "safety" feature....

I equate it to wrapping yourself in bubble wrap just in case you fall.

I probably would not take off a perfectly good one BUT the reason I bring it up is the pull back cable on my TW is shredded right at the carb cam and needs to come off and I am thinking why replace it? just something else to mess up. if you NEVER lube your cables you might have a stronger argument to keep it but I am on the anal side of lubing things so.....

like you said, it's a safety thing, i have wondered the same thing. 3 of my bikes don't have the return and i have never had an issue
