I remember back in the early 70's and our local farmers all had either a Ford F100 or Chevy 1/2 ton reg cab truck and this was their farm truck it wasn't pretty but it did all the farm work they needed. When I used to put up hay that is all they had. Now days they all have to have a Superduty Supercrew diesels, the latest Duramax or a Ram dually with a Cummins engine. All these trucks have leather and every option available as well as about 15 lights just on the front. Plus these new trucks don't get used nearly as much because they are too busy driving the new side by side down the road. Times sure have changed.

I agree, what do you do now for a true cheap work truck? Some also had rubber floor mats no interior, you could see the metal on the roof and they had manual transmissions with a granny gear if needed. You can't even by a fleet truck like that now.

Up until this year you could get a 2017 Tundra in single cab 8’ bed with rubber mats . An SR model. Yes it had power windows but also fuel injection etc. auto trans no stick and stock V8 . It would be a low cost for our over inflated dollars truck. $30,500 I don’t see a long bed single cab in Toyota’s line up this year. All double cabs if there is one.

I tried to find a basic GM crew with rubber floors and there were none to be found.
They are out there, you just need to find a dealer that deal with fleet and commercial sales.

A friend of mine that owns a construction company just got a 2018 Chevy 2500 WT model with the gas motor and rubber floors about 3 months ago bought it off the lot. This dealer does a lot of commercial sales so they are common on his lot. Chevy has shopping tools on the website that can help you locate one. Worst case you could always order one.
