And my butt got a bit stiff lol

My hands got a bit numb too - but I loved it! There are so many 55MPH state highways around here - perfect for the tdub to cruise on. Now have 171 miles on her. I'm planning on the next oil change at 250.

There aren't a lot of bikes like this around here - mostly cruiser types with old guys on em. Well, I'm an old guy too but I'm racer-X with my full face helmet lol.

I'm looking forward to getting past the "vary the RPM's" break-in stuff, but it's not too bad. I do think she's starting to run a bit smoother - that, or I was just getting used to the vibrations.

Anyhoo, the adventure continues!

The bike will never really smooth out and run right until a bunch of your friends learn to ride with it and drop it in the process. They have to slide her and snap the clutch and brake levers at least four or five times. Then you need to bomb it through some trails and get it stuck in some mud or sand, also run it through a few shallow creeks that turn out to be much deeper than anticipated. Take it to redline for prolonged periods, then let it idle in intense heat as you take some scenic photos and whatnot. You really should cross over five or six fallen trees to break in the forks as well. At least one person needs to try jumping the bike with disastrous (but not injurious!) results.

Go up and down the highway and find any ATV trail, any path, any gravel road and flog that bike. Then you need to forget about maintenance for a few years as you neglect it. Let it sit exposed to the elements. If mice eat your air filter and turn it into a nest, you'll know you're on the right track.

Then, once the aging process is complete, you spray it down with some soapy water and rebuild the carb, maybe toss in a new spark plug and battery and fire it up. The bike must attain a fine patina, like a classic watch that was actually worn. Blood, sweat, a little rust, near-misses with death, mechanical abuse, use in inappropriate conditions and locations, and at least a few years of happy memories are absolutely essential. Only once this aging process is complete will your TW be broken in.

It really should be in the manual.

Sounds like a Winchester pre-64 Model 94 that I own. lol

Road hard, put away wet.

I'm too danged old to do all that but I'll ride lots of miles ;)
