I thought I'ld be different and got the trailer wheel with circular rather than the triangular cut-outs. I also painted it the same metallic blue accent color. Mine also has TW-Brian's chrome VW lug bolts! :)

Possibly hole selection was mistake in that running webbing or rope through the triangular holes rather than through my round holes might have been both easier and less abrasive on tie-downs.
That is a 25x8x12 Duro V2. After destroying a 27x9x14 Duro V2 mounting up on a stock rim I made the smart move and went with TW-Brian's original design for a 12'trailer wheel. However no 26x9x12 Duro V2s were available at the time which would better complement the 13x55 sprockets to get final drive ratios I want.
25" nominal height surrenders a bit of ground clearance compared to the other two, is certainly lighter so likely spins up quicker. But the admittedly oversize 27" V2 certainly complemented the cartoon overkill nature of Betty Boop. As is the 25" just looks like it belongs there. Makes my first gear seem too low until the terrain gets real steep.

Hey Brian. Are you sure those are the right style? I thought the trailer wheel uses a scoop style hole for a rounded not conical lug.
As I recall the pitch and thread is 14 x 1.5. and a 28mm shank.

Hi Jerry,

Fair question. First of all, let me just state up front that I have used both styles of these lug bolts (ball seat and tapered seat) on my trailer wheel and in my opinion either style works just fine for this TW trailer wheel application.

While I agree with you that the stamped steel trailer wheels that we are both using appear to have more of a rounded seat that seems to be made for a ball seat style bolt. However, if you look at the lug bolt on the left in the picture below you will see by the witness marks that the ball seat is only making edge contact with the wheel rather than surface contact. Also, if you check with the trailer wheel manufacturers you will find that they all(?) only offer the tapered style of lug bolts on their websites.

Bottom line, I feel either style will work. However, the tapered style seems to be more readily available than the ball seat style.

(Feel free to go down the internet rabbit hole of ball seat vs taper seat lug bolts, I've already been there and done that o_O  ;)!)

Needs to be tried and some feedback supplied. The wider wheel might give a wider & flatter footprint which can be a plus when upright offroad but if it's too squared off it might manifest as an issue on curvy pavement.
I'm just getting ready to do this mod. I'm going to try doing a TWW mod I think it is called. I'd like to use Yamaha Grizzly rims because the stock aluminum rims are crazy light and also 6 inches wide. I also have some stock yamaha tires 2- 25x10x12 and 2- 25x8x12. But Polaris ATV rims have a very large center hole large enough to pass the sprocket mounting flange through without modification.

Plan:

1 - I have a BW front end, machine a front hub to accept a 12 inch atv rim and wheel plus the front brake disk. Run a 25x8x12 or 25x10x12 front atv tire which ever will fit.

2 - machine a rear hub for a 12 x 6 atv rim with flange for sprocket wheel and brake drum.

3 - possibly extend rear swingarm 2 inches. I have to do more research into the pros and cons of this mod but I'm due for a new set of chain and sprockets so if I'm doing it now might be the time to do everything.

I want to try the wide front tire but incase it changes the fun factor of this bike I want to retain all the stock parts for the TW front end so I can return it back to stock if I want to.

Hi TW-Brian, Stufidmotard, TDUB LOVERS.

I want to say thank you for your information and support via this page and some emails with Stufidmotard, I could make this project here in Qc Canada with friends and local shops. It was very easy with your images and posts, I just bought the same rim and draw the plate for bolting the rim and went to a laser shop. I took the same direction as you did. Here I am with my big tire 😁

I RESPECT the dedication and willing to share to other people loving the same machine.

Thank you so much!!! Waiting for the snow melts

Welcome VARVA. Nice report, but with the conversion why wait for the snow to melt? :giggle:
Not for deep snow of course but the ATV tire a low pressures can do surprisingly well on plowed roads with more rotten than icy packed snow, conditions like what the picture shows.
