Trials tires?

Anyone try these type of tires? Haven't seen anything about them here. Shinko has one that's DOT approved up to 75mph. Was thinking about trying one, looking for input.

That will be my next tire if I ever wear out my SR244. The compound seemed a bit soft when I handled one in the store, but I'd give it a go.

Just put a D.O.T. Shinko SR241 on the front of hers.

Another one of those cases where you can't judge a tire by its advertised size. It's labeled 4.00x18 but actually measures wider at 4.50 (115mm) mounted. Same mounted width as the original 130 and about 3/8" taller.

By comparison my SR244 labeled as a 5.10x18 measures narrow for its rated size at 4 7/8" (124mm) mounted.

The 241 weighs 12 pounds, even, about 3 pounds heavier than the stocker.

Too early to tell how well it will hold up in terms of wear, lug shedding, puncture resistence or when aired down, etc. but based on some preliminary riding at street pressures I'm pretty sure I want one on mine.

Sticks like snot. I rode a bunch of tight loops on hardpack sand at full lcck, swapping side-to-side. No washout whatsoever. No squirm on pavement, haven't ridden it at highway speeds but seems quiet.

The compound seems a fair bit softer than the SR244, but like the 244 it's non-directional so as it wears you can reverse it on the rim for a few thou, then turn it around.

$55, about the same as the SR244 at the local bigbox motorsickle store.

We'll see how it hangs over the long haul but so far I like it.

None, really. We've not had time to ride much more than unpaved roads lately. Probably less than 100 miles of mixed paved/unpaved and a fair amount of deep sand. I'd hate to make any recomendation on something we haven't really beaten up yet. I can tell you that it's the best thing on SAND that I've tried so far. Her confidence level increased automatically on the first ride.

Other than that I'd be talking out my hat to say "buy this tire!". But if I had to make a comparison I would say that in SAND at full street pressure it probably behaves as well or better than an aired-down 244.

No twisties, interstate or aggessive street riding yet. So far her comment is "No difference" on the street.

Way small part of the total equation but that's all I got.
