Hi guys, so my wife and I are planning a quick weekend get-away to do some camping and riding 10/14-16. We have reservations at a small campground near Lake Cachuma though neither of us have ridden or camped in the area before, on the maps I've seen it looks like a great place to do some riding on fire roads! Anyone have any trail suggestions for us to try? In addition to getting the tires dirty on our TW's we're going to do some touristy-type things as well (I want to see the vintage MC museum Solvang for sure and loose some monty at the local Indian Casino as well). Any suggestions on can't-miss roads? Anyone local who wants to meet-up let me know, we'll be arriving probably late afternoon Friday and leaving Sunday morning.

Hi Kev



We're lucky because some friends of ours run a small organic farm near there and we visit them occasionally. I've brought my bike along a few times and have seen a good amount of the local roads.



I really recommend Figueroa Mountain Road which starts North of Los Olivos. After you go past Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch area the views start to get pretty spectacular. Often times you will ride well above the thick low clouds that make the pinot grapes grow so well in the Santa Ynez valley.



Lots to explore in the Los Padres forest. The dirt/asphalt roads are easy but there are loads of more compilcated places to explore the further you go. A good loop out of there is through Happy Canyon.



It's difficult to go by instinct in the lower areas around Cachuma becasue so much of the land is privately owned and heavily gated. You can't go wrong on Figueroa Mountain Road though. Have a great weekend!

MMost destinations along 154 would be nice TW rides.



Fillmore's kinda cool. Old trains. Pretty cool bronzes of some guys on Harleys who warned the town after a dam burst.



There's a Painted Cave just off 154. Whole buncha stuff we've forgotten about.



It'll be a good trip even if you play tourist.

Kev, I wish I did not have plans that weekend. Send me your address and I will send you a Forest Service map of the area. South of Lake Cachuma on 154 you can take west Camino Cielo to Refugio Rd. and back into Santa Ynez then back to 154. Happy Canyon to Figueroa Mountain Road loop is also nice (catway on Figueroa is great view of Zaca lake, did it last weekend)
