My kids and I traveled from WA to CO last week to meet up with a bunch of family for a reunion in Ouray, my dad's home town. There is a lot of family history there and we all played around some...

Got the wife and kids out today and took the Quads and the TW to Capitol Forest here in WA... I started off on the TW but got the wife on it for a while while I got my power fix on my quad. She didn't even drop my bike! So proud of her and the Dub!

I will be up at Lake City Sunday thru Friday. We will be riding down toward Ouray some of the time. I have seen quite a few TWs up there in the past. If you will still be up next week watch for a blue and yellow 94.

Unfortunately, I had class back here in Washington state this week, so I had to come back home. I wish I could have spent more time there in Ouray... I love going back there. Someday when I win the Lottery... Anyhow, the wife and I are planning another trip there next summer. Enjoy your ride and then take a dip in the hot springs pool in Ouray- my family leased the property for the pool to Ouray in 1924 for a penny... The lease comes up in 2023. My grandma still owns about 8 mines around the area too.

From my perspective your commentary regarding your family's history in the area adds to the trip photos..

In my travels I've often found that the newcomers to an area know more about its history than those whose families were directly involved in it.

Nice looking bike and pics!

What front fender are you running?

It's a KTM something... I went to the local Yamaha/KTM dealer and we went through what they had in stock until we found something that would fit and look decent. I need to put a stronger piece of aluminum to mount it though as it really flops around and part of the makeshift bracket is already cracked after less than a year. Maybe I'll just use steel...

I only know what my grandmother and dad have told me about the area, which is substantial to be true, but I'd still love to spend a decent amount of time around there to learn even more... As a funny side note, the local Museum in Ouray used to be the hospital where my dad was born... He really does belong in a museum!

My brother in law was nice enough to send me a link to some more pictures that he took from Colorado... He has a much nicer camera and got some really great shots of not only the scenery, but the whole gang.

This is my little girl watching me ride behind my sister's truck, whom my daughter was riding with.

I finally got tired of sucking dust behind 2 trucks, so I decided to ride ahead and scout the terrain.

That's me way up on the road... Can you see me?

Thanks for sharing the very nice pictures. I love riding in the Ouray, Telluride, and Silverton area. There is more snow towards the top of Imogene than I would have guessed.

Great pictures and report! What carrier do you have? also, it looks like it will accept an additional receiver hitch out the back for pulling trailer?

Any info will be appreciated.

My brother and I rode over Imogene earlier this year and decided we need to return. There looks to be a lot of good rides for the taking. Beautiful country and a variety of affordable motels in Ouray.

Dang, makes me homesick even after 30 years! That old cabin coulda been the one I lived in in the early 70's....

I got back to Aspen this summer for the first time in 15 years, but I'd MUCH rather go back and visit Ouray and Telluride! Especially now that I have a vehicle that won't scare the shit out of me on Black Bear or beat up my kidneys!!!

Great Pics! The perfect time for it too, before all the damn fires got going.
