Here's my '87 so far...

Only things left to do: figure out what to paint, find some k&n filters, and maybe some street tires?

Any other ideas?

whatever you do, keep that tank as is. i love the old big TW logo tanks, and the white/blue looks great.

2nd wheelie's comments. I'd find a way to make your new paint idea to include leaving the tank stock. Nice job.

Lose the helmet lock--it detracts from the clean look of the bike. Other than that, looking good!

Paint the frame dark blue, chrome the fender, tank, and other bits, and put the stock stickers back on the tank. Old school drag bars would be trick.

Back in the olden days we nickel-plated frames and swingarms. Nickel protects from corrosion but won't hide cracks. Nickel is cheaper than chrome.

I'd put something between the passenger peg and chain if I ever planned to use that peg. better yet, lose the passenger pegs.

That's awesome! Got any details on the parts you've used to far? For instance, did you fabricate that swingarm or is that a Japanese part?

Great look! I love it the way it is.

Most of the after market parts are from Japan through Motoshop Z. See here for more information about ordering from them: http://www.honda50.com/?page_id=162

Anyway, the parts from Japan are:

Extended swing arm

Headlight bracket

Brake light

Front Fender

Small battery/tray

Supertrapp exhaust

The rest of the stuff I've done locally:

Ebay 4.5in Bates style headlight

Drag Specialties Speedo

Mirror

Re-upholstered seat

Chain/Sprockets

I'll work on getting some more pictures but I wanted to wait until it was more complete. Here's the other side:

Nice!

Question: Can you get those swingarms in different lengths or are your options basically keep it stock or go long, yours looks great, don't get me wrong but i've never been a huge fan of the extra long stretched out tire on ANY bike. Sportsbikes especially, they look like the rear tire is a whole seperate entity from the bike itself! LoL.

I also really like the exhaust styling but have wondered how difficult it would be to run the exhaust directly under the seat to where it exits near the license plate, kind of like a Sachs Madass. Anyone seen this done?

Thanks

The swing arms as ordered from Japan typically come in 2 lengths +150mm or +200mm over stock. Of course, if you stretched your own stock swing arm you could choose the length.

Got the tank and fender powder coated and put on the k&n's. Next up is to paint the frame and wheels black and install street tires.

Then it's done.
