Hey all, I was trying to search the archives, but I can't find them. Anyhow, I'm 6'2", and after riding my Honda GL500 all week, I get back on the TW200, and I seriously need to do something about both the handlebars and the mirrors. There were posts on both handlebar risers, and something that lifts the mirrors up and over a couple of inches. I can get the handlebar risers on eBay, unless there is a better place to get them, but for the life of me, I can't find those things for the mirrors. Can anyone shed some light on this?



Also, I think I need to upgrade the sprockets on the TW so that first gear isn't so worthless on the street, but I know there are posts galore about gear sizes and all.

Can't help you with mirrors, but I use my TW mostly on the street, but still like to hit the trails at times. I changed the front sprocket to a 15 tooth and kept the stock 50 on the rear. This works real good for me. Gearing is pretty much a person feeling for what you want to do with the bike.

It's not a whole lot taller but the Stearns/Wal-Mart pad was a great addition for me. Changing to 15 in the front is almost the same as putting a 47 on the back, if I remember correctly. (calculator link) In either case, WAY better for street riding and no chain mod required.

that'll give you a starting point. As far as sprockets go, I switched to an o-ring chain and 15/47 sprockets and it is sweet. Got my combo from Lytle Racing (google em). Feels like a new bike around town and no mirror shake at highway speed anymore. Quite nice. :)


Yup, those would be them. Hope to find some in chrome, but if not, these will do perfectly.



I'll look into the gear ratios you have. I do plan to take this bike off-road on the trips I take to West Virginia, so I could always put the stock gears/chain back on before I leave on those trips.

Double Walmart seat pads and handlebars 2 inches taller will make a world of difference in fit. Aluminum handlebars with some good grips will solve a lot of vibration problems. There are adapters for the yamaha's left-hand threaded mirrors so any universal right hand mirrors with the same size shaft will fit. There are anti-vibration mirror mounts sold for KLRs that will raise the mirrors a bit and clear up the images in those Emgo long-shaft mirrors. You'll need the adapters to run the anti-vibe mounts.

I found those mirror risers/extenders in Chrome on eBay, so those are on the way, and on pay day, I will order the handlebar risers (little on the broke side these days).



I guess I should have made it clear, sorry I didn't, that the seat height doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I like where it's at with the single Walmart seat cover and all that I have on it (my cruiser sits lower, so that's probably why I like the seat height where it's at). For me, it is more that I would like the handlebars a little higher, and even more so, I want the mirrors to see more than just my arms. This morning, I was trying to get them to twist up more than they could, and I was afraid I'd break them. I think raising them up and out as much as the risers/extenders are supposed to do will work out great, especially once I get the handlebar risers. I will look into aluminum handlebars, but I'll see how both types of risers will work out first.

I would do the bar risers or high ATV bars and then worry about the mirrors. One step at a time I found was the right pace so i didn't undo an advantage or go too far with my mods. I think that the higher bars was by far the BEST mod Ive done to the TW. The 15 tooth front sprocket is really nice as well. Do the sprocket and bars and then see what you need. The front sprocket is a real pain since you have to take the side cover off but not hard at all. i would just tip the bike to the side so the oil drains over to change the sprocket, but this is a good time for an oil change as well.

I'm 6'3" 160Lbs 34" inseam and only "TALL" sized long sleeve shirts come close to fitting my extra long arms.



Still, I have put over 10k miles on my TW with my gangly ass riding it in stock form and have no complaints about fit.



Then again, I did "upgrade" from a chopped out Ruckus




This isn't mine but almost identical.
