Hey I recently bought a tw 200 as a first bike and am very satisfied with it. One problem I have encountered is that the kick start very rarely engages. When it does engage it starts right up but most the of the time it doesn't work. Any thoughts?

Can't provide you with a 'detailed' answer, but having installed a kick starter on my 06 I would be inclined to say you can fix it yourself without much fuss or expense. What year is the bike ? it maybe a retrofit that someone did incorrectly. There is a 'spring' that places some drag on an engagement collar that can be positioned in such a way as to cause problems. Take off the cover on that side of the engine and compare what you see with the instructions for the kicker installation. I recall someone else having a similar issue and it turned out the return spring retainer was no longer retaining. I'll see if I can find that post.

But best bet is to remove the cover, it'll need to be removed to fix the issue so remove it to diagnose it.
