I know its like asking a giraffe to swim but does anyone keep their TW more in "road mode"? I am interested in turning mine into more a motard since my use is 90% road-commuting. What tires should I look at for this build?

I run mine almost 100% street and have 15/50 sprockets, TW203-4's, K&N cone filter, and have rejetted my carb.

With all that my TW is a lot more at home on the road- as long as I'm running at 60mph or under it's fine. I'd need a bigger bike (400cc+) to run any faster than that for any length of time.

Looks good. What kind of rear wheel/rear disc did you put on there. Do you have any close up pics of the rear disc set up?

I've often thought of getting street tires for my TW, especially after I sold my cruiser at the time when I purchased the TW. I live in Chicagoland, and there is nowhere fun to ride a dual-sport. Anyhow, I replaced my cruiser, so the TW will stay as is since the poor bike doesn't get ridden as much as it used to.

Sebastian, your bike is awesome. I love what you did to it. I went to the site on your swing arm (tw-parts.com), but didn't find anywhere about them shipping to USA. I'll bet if they did, they'd receive a lot more business from folks on this forum.

Yes, I can make in the next days some closer pictures.

The rear rim is a std. 4.5x17 supermoto/motard rim. This one is from BEHR. Very known here in Germany (quality Made in Germany).

The hub is from a Yamaha WR/YZ250F/450F made by H:One (compareable quality to Talon).

The rear disk is also from a WR/YZ250F/450F, should be made by EBC.

And the rear brake caliper and master brake cylinder is OEM Yamaha from a WR/YZ250F/450F.

Sebastian, what akrapovic exhaust is that? specifically made for a tw?
Hi,

Yes, this akrapovic exhaust is made for the Yamaha TW.

I think, this one was only made/sold for the European market, because the exhaust was "made for Yamaha TW125".

But we all know, that the exhaust parts are interchangeable.

There is a good and a bad news; and something between.

The bad news:

The production has ended for this version.

The good news:

They can made again some exhausts.

The "something between" news:

The minimum order value is 5 exhausts.

Best regards,

Sebastian

Sebastion your bike looks great! I'd love to get one of the extended swingarms... but by the time it landed here in Canada I bet I'd be looking at the best part of $1000.00 . So instead I'm going to have a go at extending it myself.

btw, i've owned a husky 610, smr510 (fuel injected w/58 hp) and a full on crf450r track bike. although these tw's aren't as fast/quick they're still just as fun.
