Hi, I'm new to the forum and also new to TW 200s. I'm from Sydney Australia and these bikes over here get awesome custom jobs from a place called Deus ex machina. I decided to buy a 2nd hand 2001 model TW200 I saw for sale and my friend and I have started to pull the bike apart and do all the customising ourselves cause we've never done it before and thought it would be a good winter project. I'll post some photos of our progress so far and hopefully have it done and on the road in the next few months. Feel free to drop any hints or info on things as we're pretty new to customising. Just learning stuff as we go along.

Cheers Slinky

All the gear stripped off it. She hasn't been ridden for over a year apparnelty. Everything was quite seized up. WD40 got a good work out but everything came off easily as most of the parts seem to just clip. on

Got the back wheel off and found an unseen buckle in it. Sent it off to get straightened out. Hopefully that turns out ok. Just getting all the bits off to get the frame checked out. Fair bit of rust that needs to be treated before repainting the heinous blue frame. I really don't like the colour blue on bikes. I'm going to go for a glossy black look.

Grinding off some tabs while disregarding every safety measure I can think of haha. Probably wouldn't recommend 3D glasses from the movies as goggles either. As Rainier Wolfcastle would say "Ze goggles do nussing"

Looks like you have a real project going on, good for you. I understand the 'joke' regarding safety, I've made it myself many times. Generally after a few more years on the planet you realize that 'in a heartbeat your life can change in ways you would rather not imagine'. AGAIN, I have done it myself!! The bet generally is, my eyesight against saving 3 minutes looking for your safety glasses. As I tired of playing the fool, I ordered a box of modestly priced safety glasses so they are every where in my (messy) shop. Just a thought..

Enjoy your project. Stay safe, and keep us updated. Gerry

Thanks for the wise words Gerry. It is easy to be complacent at my age. I guess I should invest in some safety gear for piece of mind and assurance before I get punked.

Progress has been pretty slow the last couple wk ends but one thing I did do was paint the frame. I think it looks pretty good for a home made job.

Weather has been shocking in Sydney the last few weeks and hasn't given me any time to get any work done. She finally got some TLC in the last week though. Here are some pics..

Washed the engine over three or four times. Still dirty so bought a steamer to blast all that dirt off before painting. Worked pretty well actually.
