TW200 restoration project

Hi, I'm new to the forum and also new to TW 200s. I'm from Sydney Australia and these bikes over here get awesome custom jobs from a place called Deus ex machina. I decided to buy a 2nd hand 2001 model TW200 I saw for sale and my friend and I have started to pull the bike apart and do all the customising ourselves cause we've never done it before and thought it would be a good winter project. I'll post some photos of our progress so far and hopefully have it done and on the road in the next few months. Feel free to drop any hints or info on things as we're pretty new to customising. Just learning stuff as we go along.

Cheers Slinky

Very cool! the bike turned out great!! nice work.
Slinky,

What brand of fuel tank did you use? I sent you a PM earlier. (you can ignore it as it asks "what brand of fuel tank did you use") You certainly have a knack for designing a very classic and classy looking bike. It reminds me of some of the old UJM's and Brit Iron's made during the sixties and seventies. (You need a headlight with the speedometer made in it) I also enjoyed your link to the Sydneycaferacers. Once again, great job and good luck with your studies.
Great looking bike you built there slinky! I'd also like to know what the tank was originally on, it looks great on the Tdub!

This is what she looks like from the back end.

Thanks. At least get to see what it looks like from the front and side. Because we all really know that this is the only side anyone around you will ever see.
Thanks for the kind words guys. I picked up the tank from an e-bay seller in Sydney and was lucky enough to also be it's first owner. It is off a Honda CB100 and I think it looks great too, I really like the cherry red. I have recently had a delivery of my new front and rear guards and also a dummy light cluster which looks cool. I am putting a thread up in the off road and adventure forum of a trip I did recently to a 32 km long beach three hours north of Sydney where you can legally ride ATV's, bikes, horses, camels and all sorts. I got some cool pics of the TW in action on some sand dunes so be sure to check it out and give me some more love

Cheers guys.

This is her with the new front and rear guards. I think it gives the bike a nice final touch.

This is a shot from the left side of the bike. You can visibly see the pod air filter I got on it which I think gives it a look this side of the bike really needs.

New details I put on the T-dubs recently. I got these decal stickers for $7 off e-bay. It was just a practice run to see how it would look and I think it turned out to be quite a success and not lame as I thought it might look. Since it still keeps the bike looking fairly anonymous as no-one round here knows what a motorbike is other than if it's a harley or an R1, I just tell them I ride a shark haha! What do you all think?

Very nice.... Cleaned up the electrics really well. That tank looks SUPER, especially with the graphics. Gerry
Very cool man.

I really think you need to put a chainguard of some kind on it. That long bare chain sticking out there just looks like it's waiting to get buggered up; or to bugger something up. Think chainsaw! I'm not trying to bust your chops; I'm just an old man thinking about safety. I do like the look, and the way you've added the red to break up the black.

I agree with you Kwizard, however, most of the photos up there are of the bike without the back guard on it which actually does double as a bit of a chain guard now. I also got a new chain on it recently with red links to accent the red a bit more and also the old chain was rusted out hard. But I really don't like chain guards anyway haha. Thanks for the tips anyhow, appreciated

Have enjoyed watching the progress unfold. I have a 92 T-Dub that I am in the process of evaluating for café or bratt bike project. I sure like the way your bike is turning out... Thanks for posting.
