My tw will start up on first kick but as soon as it does it start it's wide open so I shut it off. Any input would be great

Did it run properly before you worked on it?



Throttle cable stuck, improperly installed, or improperly adjusted?

Throttle cables reversed?

Throttle stop screw turned in too far?

Spring missing atop slide diagphram?

Slide stuck open?

When I Start My 2000 TW with the choke on, it will rev really high until I partially turn down the choke to half or off. Then idle is normal. I dont choke my TW very long(30sec or so). Hope this helps.

Could a carb not intended for that bike cause it to do that. I checked the carb on it and it goes to an old kz250

Very good possibility because The previous owner to my bike put a new carb on the bike. Looks factory, but that doesnt always mean anything. Normal operation it works perfect, but very high throttle with chock on.
