so the below 2 topics got me thinking of a way to connect everyone...i saw this over at adv rider and thought it would be a good way to connect members that are close to each other...they are using google my places for a tag game...i was thinking to more or less use it to make a map that everyone can view and edit so members can add their location so we can all find riding buddies...i can make it unlisted so only people with the url can find it (instead of public)...what do you guys think?

Directions to tag yourself:
1. click the map link below and log into your google account
2. zoom in to your town (to a point where you will drop your placemark)
3. click edit (pink button in the side bar like in the photo below)
4. click the placemark button (looks like a purple balloon)
5. click the center of your town (no need to give your address out)
6. in the tag box that pops up from the placemark put your FORUM MEMBER NAME
7. in the description box below add your City/Town and State (in case the placemark gets moved by accident) and whatever else you'd like (try to keep it clean, not sure if google can delete things if they don't like it)
8. please remember to click SAVE and DONE when your are finished
9. if you reload the map you will notice that your tag does not show up...scroll to the bottom of the member list and then go to the next page and you will see your tag...CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT WAS ADDED AND HAS YOUR MEMBER NAME IN THE PLACEMARK TITLE...IF IT DOESN'T HAVE YOUR MEMBER NAME, PLEASE EDIT THE MAP SO IT DOES OR I WILL DELETE IT AND YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-ADD IT
10. if you would like to change your placemark icon on the map (from the basic blue balloon) see post #87 in this topic
Placemarks that lack forum member names (i.e. "Placemark Title") will be deleted to keep things clean...if any of these are yours please re-add your placemark and remember to include your forum member name, thanks
