Hi folks!

I've just picked up my TW225, and want to check it over before heading out.

I was wondering if anyone could guide me on the clearances for the valves? I've got a manual for a TW200, but have also read somewhere that the TW225 uses heads off a different bike. Any guidance?

I know HOW to do it, just not sure what clearance to set it to!

Thanks!

TW200 is as follows

Intake 0.05-0.09 mm (0.002-0.004 inch)

Exhaust 0.11-0.15mm (0.004-0.006 inch)

With the TW225 / TTR, this changes slightly
The intake is the same as the TW200 - 0.05-0.09 mm (0.002-0.004 inch)
However, for the TTR225 the exhaust increases slightly to .15-.19mm (.006-.007 in)
Reading in-between the lines, this would appear to make sense, so play it by ear from there

No known manuals for the TW225, but it shares the top end from the TTR, so you should be good to go from the above info.

Make a note of the existing exhaust tolerance, and if it agrees with this, carry on - but .15 is your starting point

Anyone else out there who has done a 225 conversion on a 200 engine, now is the time to speak up ……

Oh man, you guys are so helpful. Thanks a lot!

This is a great starting point. I assume the clearance of the exhaust valve is slightly larger than that of the TW200 due to bigger engine, meaning more heat.

I'll pull the side cover off tomorrow to see if I can find the sticker mentioned above. If I find it, I'll post a photo for everyone to see.

Cheers!
