Had the valves checked at the shop to rule out a problem, sounded good for about a day and now its right back to tap tap (tho not as bad as before)
apparently i was twice out of spec, on both valves. I have studied the valve clearance threads, tripled checked TDC before adjusting and turning engine over and rechecking. I dont have a tool to hold the adjustment pin whilst tightening the set nut, but shouldnt it get tighter than looser? i thought valves were self tightening in nature :/
im very confused, and the guy at the shop is a little surprised as well. I dont have any loss in power, in fact it ran better when the valves got louder again.
Is my camshaft bearing hooped?
My imagination goes to a clever design involving a camshaft bearing that breaks(probably a 6 dollar part or something) instead of a rocker arm? perhaps resulting in a constant loosening of valves (as opposed to tightening, which can burn valves?)
If this is even halfway close to the truth i would be happy
