BUT I BOUGHT ONE TODAY. Couldn't be more excited. Craigslist ad showed up yesterday and I jumped on it.

2000 TW with 960 original miles. Absolutely awesome condition. Registered through August and the original owners manual came with it.

Test drove it and offered him cash on the spot less than what he asked. Picked it up for $2000 even.

Chain and sprockets in good shape. I will probably change the oil and get a new battery tommorrow just for peace of mind and good measure. Can't wait to get into it!

This is my first bike.

Good work. That's what I always do with a new bike. Change the oil and filter. Clean and lube the air filter. Check or replace the spark plug. You get to know the bike a little and have a sort of base line to go forward with. I was surprised to see that some auto parts stores have motorcycle batteries at a very good price. Might be worth a check. That looks like a very nice bike.

Very nice bike and under 1K for a 2000? Someone bought this bike, had it for a dozen years and didn't even put 1,000 miles on it??
Who are these people that buy themselves toys and then never play with them and why can't I find one of them who had more bucks than brains who's willing to sell their like-new TW for a song? Ride that baby like you stole it my friend, cuz you did! Congrats and welcome to the club. Now go put some miles it!

Funny that you mention it, because the original key I have has a keychain with a rubber attachment that says "Snake River Yamaha, Meridian, Idaho"

The original owner was apparantly an older gentleman who rarely rode it. Second owner was bought for a girlfriend, who since January put 400 miles on it. So 500 miles with the original owner...fine by me!

Small world. I bought my TW at Snake River Yamaha. After owning my TW for 7 years, I took off the dealer keychain you mention about a month ago. And removed the SRY logo sticker off the front fender last winter.

Enjoy your ride.

I've had 13 TW's pass through my hands and every last one of of them had a washable bronze screen oil filter.

Zupwiddat? Has something changed? Why are so many people BUYING oil filters of late?

NOT air filter.... OIL FILTER must have the 4 holes...
Yea thanks, my mistake. I got the right one from my local Yamaha dealer.

Changed the oil. Could def tell it was the first one, I saw same metal shavings in there when I was cleaning it from engine brake in.

Got a new spark plug and air filter. Good as new! Such a fun bike

Hey Dusty, want to do yourself a big favor on your new battery? Do like I did & get yourself a Shorai Lithium-ion battery. It lives up to its reviews, & I really like the way it just always works, hot starts, & no more acid to spill. My ’97 took a pt.# LFX09L2-BS12, Not cheap, You’ll pay around $100.00 for it, but I think you’ll find it to be a good investment. With as problematic as lead acid batteries can be for the average bike user, this is a good way to ensure one less thing to deal with & increase your riding time as opposed to wrenching time. m

Lizrdbrth, it’s probably not a bad idea to replace the oil filter on a bike 10 years old or more (Like mine) with such low miles on it, but probably never had its oil changed. The rubber on the filter might be degraded, just from time, cheap insurance. Otherwise, clean ‘em! m.

Appreciate, will make note of it.

Had a fun weekend learning a bit about the TW, and motorcycle technical aspects as well.

Changing the oil, replacing the air filter, tightening the chain...all was fun, and easy.

Had a blast ripping it around my neighboorhood, but the bike isn't registered to me, nor do I have a license or permit (waiting on MSF course form to come in mail), so I decided not to take it out too far.

The funnest thing will be tomorrow...the DMV visit. Always a good time!

nice!...have fun with it!...i have the same one (year and color) but yours is in much better condition...got mine for $1500 with a little over 8k on the clock...judging by the look of yours and the low mileage it's easily worth the extra $500
