While 95 is your quickest way north towards Bend after Dyer I could suggest the Black Rock Desert to the west or detour to the east on 50 to around Austin. City promotes long atv rides to mining districts to South, this is where I stayed at hot springs for January's lunar eclipse. This is a terrible video I made but shows smooth ATV roads:

I assume you are towing trailer with ATV? A such I am not recogmending any places hard to get to. Looking for adventure or just a relaxing quite canyon or interesting place to hangout?
In western Nevada places others find interesting other than sagebrush are old mine sites, hot springs, desert lakes, rock hounding, bordellos and casinos. Most all the north-south trending mountain ranges have access to side canyons with shade, flowing water and miles of ATV friendly roads to explore. Cell service and mobile data are getting much more common along the "major" highways if that is a concern.

Just west of Denio are warm springs creeks and ponds good for boondocking next to with nearby opal mines....pay a few dollars and you can dig and keep whatever opals you find.

Hope this might give some inspiration if you haven't already left town:p Have fun!

Thanks again Fred. Side canyons with shade, flowing water and ATV trails sounds perfect. Adventure or relaxing is what I do best. Been to Denio on the way to the Alvord desert, will ck out the warm springs creek but not into digging for opals, shovles and I don't get along, lol. I sure appreciate all your tips and knowing how much you enjoy the full moon I'll think of you while I'm enjoying the May 28th moon hopefully soaking in a hot spring in Nevada. Not leaving JT till the 15th of may, then off to Dyer for the annual Spring Fling at my friends place till the 23rd, don't have to be in Bend till mid June so I'll have 3 weeks to explore Nevada. Like to go to the Jarbridge but think it would be a little early. No casino's for this Jose... Is this the spring west of Denio your talking about?

Go onto advrider and search for 'to hell and gone'

those riders came down the east and were suppose to go up the west of NV.
Don't how much of the west they ran north, but might be worth a read, especially if you change your and want to north on the east side.

As always ADV site full of good reads. They went south to Calainte then split up, no west side reports, good read anyway, thanks.

I joined them in Elko or just NW of there and rode south with them to Calainte where i split off.
Now i think about it they were talking about not continuing with the org plan.

Yes to Bogs Hot Springs. I have yet to visit but supposedly is a good soak you can drive right up to. May not be much shade there come June.
Some shade a bit further west at Virgin Valley Hot Springs which is more of a warm pond on a empty ranch. You might have to make up your own stories about the farmer's daughters though as I think the Virgin Valley name might be a bit optimistic. Mild fees structure for both the soaking and the camping there. You are fairly out of the mountains here though so night sky will be expansive in this relatively underpopulated corner of the state. virgin valley.jpg
