Well today here in the wonderful PNW, east side saw 45 degrees. I feel early feb will see some decent riding days, so after topping off the batteries on all 4 bikes and draining the gas out of the snowblower I have either cursed myself or prepared myself for a great start to the riding season. I put fresh gas in the "99 ZombieStomper and tickled the carb...second kick with full choke in a 50 degree garage after 2 months of sitting and she fired right up! Time to warm up the oil and do the yearly servicing!

No pics, but maybe tonight. The 'ol ZombieStomper looks pretty odd with the entire front end off and it resting on a bike lift. Installing All Balls steering stem bearings and races, as well as a new coil/wire and cap. Have been chasing some rough running of late, usually when warmed up, so thought with the age (99) and miles 10K, it might not be an unreasonable investment.

For the first time in 8 years decided to re install the factory airbox/battery tray and lose my K&N pod set up. Also decided to put a battery with charge in it after using only the kicker for the last year or more. Opened the petcock for a few seconds to fill the bowl, give it half choke, hit the button and BAM, she fires back up! Can't wait to test ride and see where my fuel/air mixture is at, may have to go back down on the main.

Pulled off the carb finally, done with my 2 big Kawi streetbikes, and am pretty sure I found the reasons why I have not been able to get it to run and idle. The intake manifold had some micro-cracks but also seemed a bit distorted from heat of use since 1999, and the Oring was hard as rock. I also had installed the front and back clamp bands in the wrong location, 2 sizes, so there is that my bad. Ordered a new/old stock manifold and Oring at double the cost of one for a 2019, (wish I had them to compare, but oh well), hope to have her sorted in a week.

Yesterday at 16:50 I got a message that there is a brush fire on a neighbor's farm. Phoned the fire dept and rushed to go and help. Got there about 30 min before the local fire dept. The local logging company arrived on scene with their fire engine same time as I did. Passed them going up hill in the veld on the Dub.
Anyone that knows how Pine, Wattle, and other dry brush burns know exactly how dangerous this can get. I rode through the flame front in the grass to get the Dub clear of the fire. View attachment 204076

It took us about 2 hours to contain the fire and thank God that the wind did't turn and we had some rain on Sunday. The local farmers and logging fire dept had it under control when the municipal fire dept showed up, with a half tank of water and a pump that they couldn't get started.
All fun and games :D I had a minute to snap the pic of the Dub just after we arrived on scene.
Truly a global/universal, multi-purpose-do anything machines! Good on you for tackling the task.

Finally! After almost 6 months I got The ZombieStomper back running and idling and throttle responding pretty darn good. The throttle cables were really dirty and the pull is fraying so have some Moose replacements coming. Fine tuned the idle mixture screw and idle speed, gave it a little more slack, and I will test ride it tomorrow. Fingers and Eyes crossed.

No37 that gold looks great! I did mine in Hammertone Silver, but your looks sweet. Mine came as a rough, farm abused unit, and somebody at some time had replaced the shock with what the dealer thinks is a unit from an early Yammie quad, where owners would throw away all 4 for upgrades. I have no clearance issues but my TW rides a full 2 inches taller than any stock ones. I made spacers for the forks and stiffer oil and it suits my 6 feet 230 lbs really well. It may not like it....

Looked at mine. Cold and damp but no reason like ice or snow keeping off it, just a long list of honey-dos. The ZX-10 is finally sorted, the ZG-14 just needs the batter tender installed, and the Bandit 1255 is under wraps waiting for pick up by its owner. I guess today, since I woke at 3 AM is a good time to do a full service on the TW. Plug, oil, air filter....probably ride it to the Polar Bear Plunge in a couple of weeks if Covid did not kill that too!

New plug on order, will be here Friday. New air filter here today as the old one had turned to black gloop in the 2 years since I last checked it. Now I know why I lost performance and the plug was nasty. Fresh oil going in tomorrow. Tires aired up to 20F/25R for street riding but if temps stay at or below freezing I may drop them a tad. Have not ridden anything since 11/29 and PMS is starting to peak.

Did you go with the tall seat or the regular height
I’ve got the tall one and it’s almost to high.Changes the feel of the TW completely. I’m 6 foot got a 34 inch inseam. View attachment 211277 05 with the stock seat compared the 2015 with a tall seat concepts
I ordered the tall seat because I have a 35" inseam and liked the added height the Coleman gave, but I don't think I got the tall one. I will get over it, hope to ride it tomorrow.

Not mine, but dug a little deeper into the nephew's 87. Tank off and the evil slimy, greenish liquid that was in the tank was poured into a container, what sloshed on the ground I was able to light by holding a torch to it, LOL. letting the tank air out and then will start De-Rusto project. pulled the drain plug and YAY!! it has some oil in it, black but not as nasty as what I expected. WIll take it outside this week and give it a good dousing so I do not have to chisel through 1/2" of mud and grease everywhere to work on it.
