I love the yellow and black color combination, nice job!
Thanks! I've always liked black and yellow on my vehicles, but you should look up one of Admiral's posts about his yellow and black TW, totally stole the color scheme from him.

Edit: at least I think it was admiral's... I could be confused as I can't find a picture of it.

I can’t take credit either. The “Bee” was created by Mr Bracket, then Purple owned it but later sold it to me but is now owned by my oldest son. Still looks like this and it’s supposed to be in Moab this April.

Something! It was 45 degrees and sunny before the snow hit tonight so, I decided to go give the TW a once over. The bike has been sitting for months, and I was happy to find no oil drips anywhere on the recent 229cc swap. However, I did notice a bit of watery oil on the bottom of the air box. So, I spend a few hours trying to finagle the left-side airbox cover (the one UNDER the filter cover) in order to clean and inspect. DON'T EVER TRY THIS!!! Ha - what a pain in the ass! It is truly almost impossible without actually removing the airbox from the bike. Almost - that is. I eventually got it off and cleaned up the inside of the box. Not sure exactly how the oil came up the breather tube into the airbox. I can only assume I laid the bike down briefly and can't recall exactly when. I know exactly why it was watery! On my last real ride, I decided to ford a flooded creek that was quite a bit deeper than I thought it was. I made it across without any stalling but boy, did the old '87 take a bath! Then I put everything back together and fired up the bike for a few minutes because I missed her voice...

I'm pretty sure that skid plate is DIY.

Here's one from an AG200 that will work, the rear needs to bolted on similar to the Richochet with "L" brackets. - 36X-21471-00-00 Yamaha Protector, engine.

They are crazy expensive to have shipped. Bike Bitz - Buy online all brands of motorcycle parts (used) and Webike: Motorcycle Parts, Accessories, Gears, OEM parts & Reviews has them, (new).
Thanks for sharing! Those are killer! Seems like that would provide ample protection for the motor.

MrBracket's "Bee" actually has a TCI skiplate, rare as hen's teeth.
I rolled Nibbler ( A.K.A. Mr.Gizmo) out of the cold storage garage to make room for resumed work on BettyBoop's lack of tailight, brake lights and turn signals, a lingering enigma since New Years.
Once outside got the "Why Not?" urge, climbed aboard Nibbler and fired right up. Allmost said "stock" starts so reliably then remembered I'm talking about Gerry's old Mr.Gizmo. :p

...like that 1973 movie "a Boy and His Dog" starring Don Johnson, roaming the post apocalyptic wasteland together looking for something to eat?

So i did a bunch of elecctrical work to both of the TW's today.

First up was taking care of the mess that was the accessory wiring on both bikes. Over time i have added a few things to them and never put in a proper fuse block. That is until today. I installed an Eastern Beaver PC8R on both bikes. This unit has a built in relay and is super slick. Gives me 6 switched and 2 unswitched connections.

I went from this mess....

To this

Its a whole lot better now and it will be a lot easier to work on. I also started installing some Denali S4 lights with a datadim controller to replace the old Visionx solstace ones i have had for years. Not quite done with this one yet. These lights are going to be super bright on high, they are 6000 lumens for the pair vs the 1800 i had with the solstace.

Wow. You guys have really shamed me. I just rode the Tdub 1/2 mile up and back to the mailbox...You guys are overhauling bikes...I see some serious talent in your work...Breeze from the SE, 77 deg, too nice to be inside, so I mowed 5 acres. Not the talented work you guys did, but rewarding nonetheless.

My T Dub let me down today…. well the battery let me down. I went for a short ride after work. Before the ride the T Dub didn't want to start. 10 mins on a battery charger and it was good. I rode for an hour, stopped for a bit, started right back up. After another hour of riding, I stopped at a local ORV area. An older man (60s) was locking the gate, the area is closed till April 1st, he had been doing trail maintenance. He had lots of questions about the T Dub. When I went to leave, battery wouldn't start it.

After numerous failed push start attempts; I had a good evening cardio workout. i told the guy I just met, I’d call a family member to bring jumper cables. Thankfully before I made the call, a guy appeared from a house at least a 100 yards away. He had been watching my failed push start attempts. He had a battery box. Once I got the seat off (dumb design), that worked and I headed home. Tomorrow I’ll be getting a new battery. This weekend, the seat is getting the pin release modification. Here is a pic before the battery failure.

I always suggest a Shorai lithium battery. Many of us have had nothing but bulletproof performance. On a bike without a Kickstarter, I believe spending a little extra on a battery is a sage decision.
