I agree on a lithium battery decision, especially when riding sage. :)

All word play aside what is true is the confidence & peace of mind a quality lithium battery can give you when out on your own with no visible help on the horizon. While you can't always count on someone being around to help, you can usually count on a lithium battery to have lots of endurance to crank away for a very long time.
Not as good perhaps as the redundancy affordered by a kickstarter , or a jump start battery box but a very worthwhile upgrade in my opinion.

I totally agree, its a great upgrade with zero downside. I installed kickstarta on both of my bikes and i dont think i would want to be without them but i also love the lithium batteries i have in both, they have never once let me down.

Yep lots of how too threads. Cost wise, no idea what it would cost now since one would need to manually piece together a kit or get one with used parts that sometimes pop up on ebay. I got kickstart kits from Yamaha back when they were still available. Install is not bad in my opinion, you do need to remove the clutch basket and need the tools for that.

Thank you jb882 for correcting me on the actual TCI skidplate. Indeed the "BEE" TW does seem to have a tubeular skidplate much different from the TCI offering.

Congratulations, now when you reach for that sixth gear - it will actually be there!
When trying to decide what motorcycle to buy and reading up on the TW200, I kept running across people commenting about trying to find 6th gear.

I didn't understand it fully until getting and riding my TW. Now I frequently find myself trying to kick it up a gear. With all the buzzing I can't keep from believing there isn't another gear in there.

Having had 2 TW's over the last 5 years, and a total of nearly 17k miles between the two.....I still try to find 6th....knowing full well I'm not gonna.

I had that same problem until recently on both of mine.

I took off all of the plastics, seat, fuel tank and rear subframe to clean and freshen up the TW. Somehow during this activity it began to change from blue to grey. I'm going to start reassembling it but need some new bolts as some sacrificed themselves trying to remain on a 34 year old moto, having never been touched before. Pictures should be coming shortly as progress is made.

Took my son's GF out for her first motorcycle ride since she passed her MSF course 5 months ago, (Winter, and he can't ride with her as he can barely walk after stage 4 cancer...another story). Anyway, she was so stoked! She rode wifey's 2012 and I was on my 99. Just a lot of slow residential laps for an hour. The TW is such a good newbie bike, she was stuck on a clapped out Rebel 250 in her class and kept remarking how much better this was.

I had the same problem untill the TTR 6-speed transplant, now I find myself looking for 7th gear.
Consensus seems to be that there has got to be more fun and another gear hiding somewhere if we just keep pulling up on that shifter.:)

So sorry about your son's health. A good friend beat stage 4 cancer 6 years ago and she's doing great. Prayers for your son's recovery.❤

I finished getting the Denali S4 aux lights installed on my better half's bike. I also took mine for a quick spin in the dark to see how they worked and wow are they bright on high.

Now i have to fix some other electrical gremlins on her bike. I have found a lot of the non waterproof connectors Yamaha decided to use have a bunch of blue corrosion in them causing some strange behaviors like it wont turn on with the key unless i wiggle the connector and so on. So now its time to pull every connector apart and clean them :(

Follow to day 1. Today Mrs. ZXtasy jumped on my too tall TW to take Andee out for a second training session. They did great, and the confidence level is climbing sharply. Always nice to see 2 alpha females out tooling around on the mean streets.

So, what you’re saying is….you're now searching for a TW for yourself.

Out of hibernation today.

Having an Li-I battery, I hadn't disconnected it. And hadn't charged it; but it fired right up. First try!

As the Moab crew from last fall, knows, my Harbor Freight toolbox on the tail was beat to crap. I had a Moose (I think that's the brand) bolt-on tailbag that came off my used XT. I rigged it up (had to drill holes).

And rode it across town. I was reminded, again, what an improvement the 15-tooth front sprocket was. Speed limit on our main drag through town is 45; travel speed in light traffic is 50; and the TW has no problem, not anymore, keeping up with everyone.

Now I have to figure out how to get a front tire to replace the Death Wing. WHILE saving the Death Wing, since it's fine on pavement. I'm considering buying another front rim, with a brake disc, and just using them to switch.

Hate to throw out an MC tire with only 3500 miles on it, in this day and age...even a crappy tire.
